For a while everyone thought that it was hopeless for this little lad. because on a track team you \have to have a quick get away, finish and long endurance to make a team. Season after season this lad came back. He was tall and lanky and was known to most of his fellowmates and friends as “Cicero” or “Bones”. Cicero, as 1 sliall call him. came through with Lying colors Iby running the mile on the team. The last year of this star’s high school career, which ended in 1940, we had one of the greatest track and field aggregations ever to represent the Green and White. That star was none other than that jiving jittering jitterbug from Naptown by the name of Homer A. Russell. Look for the Highlights in Sports next week.
