IX Hughes, a member of the program committee of the Progressive club, very pleasantly entertained the members and guests, Mesdames Lottie Ligions, Lois Grace, Ella WIRadsoq, and Miss Marian Bovrman, with a St. Patrick's program, at her home Wednesday afternoon. • The members and guebts on entering were given souvenir booklets cleverly arranged In the St. Patrick’s colors and containing the following program: Opening club song, collect, roll call, Irish jokes, paper, "The IHsh Saint", Mrs. S. D. Hughes: “The Wearing of the Green", Mrs. Edward Walters, reading on St. Patrick, Mrs. Lottie Ligions: duet, “The Rosary”, Misses Bernice Hughes and Mahon Bowman; group readings, Mrs.’ Hazel Estes. The hostess introduced a humorous contest In which each one pressent was asked to make out a will, leaving something to every one in the room. The hostess was assisted In serving a delicious two-conrse lunch by her husband. S. D. Hughes, and daughters, Misses Ruth and Bernice Hughes. Madames Daisy Coleman, Ollie Reeves, and Jessie Johnson have returned home from Kentucky w-here they were called on account of the illness and death of their mother. The Rev. H. L. P. Jones spent a few days last week in Chicago, visiting relatives and friends. Among those on the sick list are: Mrs. Hannah Harper. Mr. Sam Fowler, and Charles Peters, superintendent. of Wayman Chapel Sunday school.

The Negroes of this city have been greatly benefited by the P. W. A., because it was through the Public Works program Np. 2 school building was remodeled and named the Booker T. Washington school building. The parent-teachers’ organisation has aided greatly in decorating the school ground. A series of Wednesday evening prayer meetings was started last week at the Second Baptist church. PTof. P. D. Thompson, of Indianapolis. spent a few hours Thursday evening rehearsing the Second Baptist choir. Great honor la due Mrs. E. J. Kr Hines, state president of the missionary society.
