PARIS.—Jack Johnson, former world’s heavyweight champion called t me out in his ” ~*-k to establish a boxing school in Berlin to journey here and give an exhibition with two outstanding European heavyweights. The 55-year-old former champion, relying on ring craft and strength actually outboxed both Maurice Griselle, French champion and Ernest Guehring of Germany. A tremendous ovation was most pleasing to Johnson. Moorehcad, J. Farrell, McDonald and Sharon Lynn, arc in the supporting cast.

(LEE JOHNSON) With approach of City basketball tournament we find two Eastside teams in lead in two divisions for the Y. net leagues. J. T. V. Hill, Senior and Junior teams have won eight and lost one, and 10 and lost none respectively. In the Tuesday league the O. Martin team is in a three way tie with Rex Laundry and Simpson Ciothiers having won five games and lost four. Martin started their winning streak by dropping the Brightwood A. C. 31 to 24. Rex Laundry won from the Simpson Clothiers to wind up play in the Industrial League. Wednesday night the Hill juniors Increased their lead at the expense of Bethel A. M. E. 24 to 18. Rex laundry juniors won from Caldwell Chapel Jrs. 12 to 10 in an exciting game. Simpson M. E. won from Witherspoon Chapel 12 to 5. Ray Ccston and Ed High broke into the offensive column for the “Spoonerst” while Buell starred for Simpson. Witherspoon has a percentage
of five hundred having won half of their games and lost as many. Thursday night Second Christian won from Allen Chapel 35 to 14. Reeves and Dunn starred for Allen w hile B. Payne, Southern, and Johnson starred for Chirstian. Holy Trinity a local basketball team of White boys, camp over and won a onesided game from the Caldwell Seniors 38 to 12 in an exhibition game.
