COURT RULES AGAINST NEGRO ON VOTING?

JACKSONVILLE. Fla., Sopt. 14. -Isiah H. Tribble, 27, was beaten unconscious by three whites when he was accused of being a Catholic and a member of a Smith for President club. Tribble was standing on a street corner waiting for friends about 12:30 last Wednesday night, a s three men drove up in a Ford

coupe.

Two alighted and asked him what he was wailing on. They claimed they were police officers and ordered him in the car to lie taken to police headquarters. Tribble, a plasterer and con tractor, consented but was hurried ly driven ont Into the country where the men qitestioued him about hts politics, A! first lhey wanted to know tf he was not waiting for some while woman, When ussnrad that lie was not, they demanded lo know It he was not a "damn Catholic," and a member of a Hmlth for prealdent club. He said that ho wasn't. The three men blind-folded him and as they beat him unmercifully they continued to insist on a confession about Tribble’s religion and politics. Incensed by his failure to confess that ho was a Catholic they beat him until he was in a semi-couscious state. Tribble was left on the field as the whites disputed among them selves as to whether he should be killed or not. It seems that the two younger men wanted to kill him with an iron pipe, while t h e older man who drove the car was satisfied with th beating. His view

moy ailed.

Beaten to'almost a pulp, Tribble,
