party.”

Just how “Brother” Gitlow expect ed to pul over the “urge” among his colored brethren did not appear in the course of his remarks; nor did he exhibit unv evidence of a “waiting ILst” or Negroes, who, like* him. are aliens who have a new way of running the Ameripaji government and American institutions If Gitlow had beer, zealous enough m his research into the temperament adn attitude of the eleven million American Negroes whom he expects to convert into over-night communists, he would have* realized that lieople who are a-* one hundred per cent American as Mr. Gitlow is alien, | are more interested, in developing ‘ Americanism th;.n communism. Negroes are wholly lacking in ’any revolutionary spirit and are as free from unrest a* are the vast majority of unthinking Americans, who are satisfied wiih their country’ **od their government and have no deaire to change either. CHICAGO, Jan. 4—As a result of the destruction wrought by the explosion of a vandal's “spite” bomb at daybiftak on Oct. 16th, thei finance committee of the Bathesda Baptist Church, 53rd and Michigan Ave., has been forced to send ou>t a call (for assistance in its campaign to raise sufficient funds with which to rebuild thei place of worship. The church building, which was considerrtd one of thcr most beautiful and most perfectly eouipipied in the city prior to the bombing, was so badly wrecked and damagekl by the explosion that an outlay of nearly $30,000 will be required to make the necessary repairs. In its campaign to raise this amount, the finance committee of the church of which the pastor. Rev, E. T. Martin is chairman, sent out t*b following letl-dr to all of the whi papers in the city: “To all Christians and every p lic-spiritekl citizen: ■tSad and pathetic is the state erf the members of the Church.
