The hall was decorates in appropriate colors; Leah aud Union chapters presented a good attendacce. The lecture given by MIss;Gray was highly entertainiug and instructive. After the lecture an enjoyable repast wos served under the direction of Mrs. Jer.nie Lewis and Cassle Seaton. Mr. Fred Btake of Terre Hante was among the number. Past G. P., H. A. Kogan and Henry Moore both pioneers in chapter work, were preseui. Miss Gray was the recipient of a handsome boquet.
Easter was appropriately observed at the Flanner Guild last Sunday. The assembly room which has recently been painted and frescoed, presented an inviting appearance. Palms and cut flowers graced the speaker’s platform. Devotional exercises were opened with singirg and the reading of scripture lesson by G. W. Cable. A paper on the origin of Easter was read by Mrs. Beulah Porter, It was highly interesting and gave those present food for thought. Solos by Miss Naive Coleman and Mrs. Mattie Lamond were pleasing features. At the close of the service an appeal was made for aid for the flood suffers being cared at Planner Guild all whom are destitute of means and clothing and are dependent upon public charity. Money or clothing may be sent to the Guild or if notified will be called for. In reponse to an appeal, $4 66 was taken up at Simpson Chapel last Sunday night for the benefit of the sufferers which, with $1.00 sent by G. W. Cable, was turned in through The News to the flood sufferers’ charily fund. An effort will be made to secure a collectlon Sunday from the varous churches for this worthy object. Theo. Ka Kaza, a native South African, will be the principal speaker tomorrow afternoon at the Guild.
There will also be a choice musical The Leading Colored Tailor programe. Services begin promptly at 5 o’clock.
