Epidemic of Crime Among Youths at Peuth Bead. [Special to The Indianapolis News} SOUTH BEND., Ind., April 27.—Two boys, neither more than seventeen years old, entered the Joseph Levy grocery store about 11 o’clock last night and held up the proprietor, robbing him of $300. The boys escaped. Because of the epidemic of crime among boys of similar age the police and city court are determined to inflict drastic punishment on all law* violators. Within the last two weeks two boys, now under arrest, stole three automobiles and attempted to shoot a police detective. Practically all the holdups committed since the first of the year have also been traced to boys under twenty years.

While we are glad to be able to report an improvement in the* outlook for gas coal, there is no improvement in the supplies on. hand that can warrant a greater send-out of gas. We have had advices that shipments of coal last week amounted to 8,000 tons, but we received only 5,200 tons and used 7,700 tons. If the railroads suffer no new backset, better supplies should be available by the end of this week. As soon as conditions make) possible larger production of gas, larger quahtities will be released. Meanwhile, good pressure can be maintained only at these hours: 5:30 to 7:30 A. M. 11 A. M. to 1P. M. 5 to 7 P. M. At all other times the pressure will have to be too low to be depended upon, and when gas is used at such hours it should not be left unwatched, as it is likely to go out if many persons try to bum it at the same time.
