In his weekly summary of crop conditions in the state. He says*. Exceptionally heavy rainfall on several days of the last week has caused practically all of the rivers and smaller streams of the state to overflow their banks and do considerable damage. Ind„ April 2«.— Special services were held at the South Ninth Street Methodist Episcopal church in this city Sunday, the occasion being the burning of a mortgage which has been on the church since it was built fifteen years ago. The sermon was preached by the Rev. Hubert Perry, pastor of the Indiana Avenue Methodist Episcopal church In Anderaon. The Baptist church in this city, of which the Rev. J. R. Quick is pastor and one of the smallest churches in Noblesvllle, so far as membership is concerned, went over the top Sunday afternoon in subscribing its interchurch world movement quota of fl.fibd. The entire amount was subscribed in by thirty-five members in five minutes. “On aad Off" Gas Hearing. Hearing on a petition of the Central Indiana Gas Company to provide “on and otT service only to industrial concerns at Muncie, Hartford City, Fairmount and Gaa City will be held Wednesday at It a. m . Feed Mill. Warehouse end Three Houses Destroyed nt Terre Hnute. (Special to The Indixnspohs Hews] TERRE HAUTE, Ind- April 26 — The feed mill and warehouse of Wilson, Hager A Houles, at Fourteenth street and the Vandalia railroad, three houses, seven sheds, a small machine shop and a garage were destroyed Saturday evening by a fire believed to have been of incendiary origin. The loas was about $25,600, partly covered by insurance. A watchman at the feed mill saw three small boys set fire to a pile of straw in the rear of the mill and gave chase bat was unable to apprehend i them. A fire truck on the way to the fire struck an automobile at Fourteenth and Chestnut streets and cut it in two. but the three occupants escaped uninjured. Directors of the Shelby County Farmers' Association, at a meeting held here Saturday in the office of Russell G. East, county agent, arranged to plant thirty-five demonstration plots in the county this
spring, using diseased seed corn for the tests. Corn will be used that was found to be diseased in •■modified rag doir* tests in this city. These plots will be carefully watched for disease and yiald by local farmers and by Purdue experts. In the fall a series of dem-
onstration meetings wilt be held. Two or more of the plots for demonstration purposes wtii be placed in each township. Shelbv county farmers, individually and collectively, will fight the Nolan tax bill, which has been Introduced in the house. The bill provides that
