The charges were filed with the state board and after a hearing in Indianapolis the license was revoked. Dr. Smith later took an appeal to the Knox circuit court and won his case, again obtaining his license and opening his offices in Bickneil. Harris •( Butler, Says Strikes Are the Great Cause. “If the modern world with Us highly specialised industrial aystem could only exist without strife betwmn employer and employe," declared Prot wilmer C. Harris, head of the history department in a lecture at Butler College Thursday, “we would have more luxuries and comforts than nay of us want at this time." - _ _ .. Professor Harris scouted the theory that excessive demands for luxuries were the cause of the high coat of living. Notice to Gas Consumers!
There has been no material change in the gas situation during
oil W(
improve conditions to any great ex-
tent, while embargoes against Indianapolis on our principal coal
the past 48 hours. A few cars of coal and
tne p terda
were received yes-
ay, but not sufficient to
roads make future prospects more gloomy than they have been heretofore. We have been able to do no more than maintain gas stocks by our system of fair pressure during cooking hours and a
minimum pressure at other times.
A slight change will be made in the hours of better supply so
that they will be as follows:
5:30 to 7:30 A. M. 11 A. M. to 1 P. M.
5 to 7 P.M.
The reason for the change in the early period is the request of . many workmen for a supply of gas for earlier breakfast. The hours first established by us are those desired by the greatest number of consumers, but since some must have an early breakfast in .order to get to work in time, and those who are accustomed to later breakfasts can change to an earlier time during this emergency, it has seemed reasonable to make the change in-
dicated.
To gas consumers who are disappointed because they can not get gas for heating, we are able to report that the railroads are still able to move coke to most of the coal yards of the city. Up to the present time there has been no shortage of fuel for domestic
purposes.
