A program of Jewish folk music was offered at the Murat theater Sunday evening by the Palestine Chamber Music Knsemble. known as Ztmro.” whose object, as explained by l>r. Arthur Rose, in a short talk. Is to assist in establishing a temple of art in Palestine. Tbe concert was presented under the auspices of the Zionist organisation, and was attended mainly by the Jewish residents, who were very enthusiastic in their reception of the program. The ensemble include* Mistechkln. first violin; Moidavan. second violin; J. Ghernlavski. ceilo; hresrodny viola; A. Bellison. clarinet, and L. Berdfchevski, piano. The Tarbaikowsky quartet in P major was the only number which was not Jewish. This was played by the string quartet, whose work was interesting and musicianly. The quartet closed the program with the addition of the clarinet in ' Kol Xldrei** (Goorovitch) and "Sikte No. 2” (Krein). A Jewish dasce by Kaplan, was played by the two violinists and was so well liked that it tmd to be repeated. Solos were also given by the clarinetist, cellist and pianist, the first displaying smooth even tones on his instrument, which is not really adapted to solo work. The pianist played a “Jewish Rhapsodic” <Aisbergi in which he displayed considerable technical ability and was recalled for an encore. His work as accompanist was also creditable. The cellist' also pleased the audience in his playing of “Eli Zion” (Zeitlin) and "Freilichs" of his own composition. The quality of tone produced by each musician was excellent and made the various numbers interesting to member* of the audience not versed in Jewish melodies. The Zionist organisation received the cooperation of Onk B. Talbot in bringing the musicians to Indianapolis.
