Division Chairmen Pormnlat* Now Scale for Railway Clerks. Division chairmen of the Brotherhood of Rkilway and Steamship Clerks, an organisation affiliated with the* Amerioan Federation of Labor, held a meeting at the Hotel Sevetin Sunday to consider a wage agreement now in effect with th« American Railway Express Company. The meetin* was called by Robert Morgan, general chairman of the brotherhood, who announced today that a demand would be made for a wage increase of $35 a month. The preaent wage scale went Into effect February 15. The question of an Increase, Morgan said, would be presented to the wage board recently created under the Esch-Cummins bill. Division chairmen attending the meeting were D. A. Bishop, of Willard, O.; T. A. Cameron, of Orand Rapids. Mich.; J. A. Graves, of Decatur, III.; R. A. Wagoner, of Tiffin. O.; L. E. Clark, of South Bend; E. W. Kuper, of Evansville; H. B. Hadden, of Columbus, O., and C. C. Lee. of Indianapolis. Express clerks affected by the action receive from |75 to $115 a month, it was said. Herbert B. Calkins, manager of the Am’erican Railway Express Company, said that the request for an increase would not be brought up locally for adjustment but would be referred directly to the wage board. Only boys who are helpers on wagons, numbering about eight, Mr. Calkins said, get as low as $75 a month. All others who would be affected now receive $90 or more. The wage agreement which went Into effect February 15 was not only with the Brotherhood of Railway and Steamship Clerks, but also with the Order of Railway Expressmen, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and the Chicago Teamsters. Mr. Calkins said. It dealt with working conditions rather than wage adjustments. WOMAN HURT BY ROBBER. ■n. w. D. R-we Ttr-wa A«l..< Feftce—Negro 8aspect Held. Mrs. W. D.
