The McGee Motor Sale* Company has opened a salesroom and service station at 427 North Meridian street and announce that It has closed a contract for the distribtton is Indiana for the

The McGee company is headed by Harry McGee, who is one of the pioneer automobile men of the state, having been in the business for more that fifteen years. Until recently he conducted tho largest used car agency in the state and he now recalls that never in his five years' experience la handling oaed cam or appraising used cars for new car agencies did either he or any of his staff hare occasion to handle or appraise a 8 team* car. "We believe this U a remarkable record,” said Mr. McGee yesterday, "and It certainly Indicates that the Breams cars are being ^t* is pointed o?f that undoubtedly one reason for this is the fact that the Knight motor improve* with use and that carbon makes the motor operate really better, in this respect b«ng op•osite of the poppet valve type of motor.

PRACTICE SHIFTING GEARS. When a car is new and the owner le not accustomed to driving it there Is often difficulty in shifting Into intermediate gear, either from low or high. This may be due to a slight dragging of the clutch, or. more often, to the fact that the driver Is not familiar with the speed of th* motor at which

the shifts should be made

A little practice is all that is needed. If the rasping of the second gear can not be avoided and it is thought that damage will be done to the gears, avoid shifting from first to second. Accelerate a little more and shift from first to high, and then, at the first opportunity, consult the manager at the service station, who will give you a little instruction in correct

shifting.

Rumor* and ootrafcer-rumors are In circulation as to what the Wffiys-Over-land Company is going to offer this year to the way of a new line of motor car*. The only local source through which definite information could be expected le from the Gfbeon company, distributers. Capitol avenue and Michigan street. However, officials of that company are reticent regarding “future plans.” Mystery surrounds the preparations of the Gibson company lor It’s showing of cars at the state fair motor car show. This to the first time to the history of the Indianapolis Automobile Trad* Association shows that th* Gibson company has no advance information to announce concerning Its proposed exhibit of cars. "A surprise awaits visitors who call at our section of the automobile show,” is the only statement ventured by an official of the Gibson company. However. regardless of the "mystery atmosphere” which prevails, there are certain rumors 'afloat which may have some bearing upon the situation. That the Winys-Overland Company has for several years had under development a new standardized line to pretty generally known. That the plans of the company Include the production of a light four-cylinder Overland and a light Willys-Knight sleeve valve motored type of car to also generally known. The report gained wide circulation before the war period that th# new Overland line would include as its masterpiece s small, fully equipped car

at a low price. In the face of war condition# the actual production of the car for selling purposes was not possible, but it to known that experimental (Bans of the company were carried forward with painstaking care snd it to understood that the new line has been satisfactorily subjected to exacting tests of every conceivable nature. The only statement that has come from Overland officials to that a new line is coming, but that it will not be announced until the production of a successful car upon ait enormous production basis to assured. Regardless of the rumors afloat concerning the new line, there has been no dfaninishment In the demand for the present line of

Overland and Wfflys-Knight cam, particularly the Model 90 light four, which has had such a wonderful sale, whether the Gibeon Company will have something new in connection with the present line as a "surprise” for the state fair or whether the “mystery” really involves the new line remains to be

Carburetor Vibration. In fitting a new carburetor be sure that there Is no looseness to cause vibration, because tf there is a broken flange will be the inevitable result. If vibration is present a small

Iron bracket should be installed from a nut on the engine frame to the Instrument to steady It, also taking the strain off the intake pipe. Float Causes Trouble. In some carburetors the float bowl to held in place by means of a small leaf spring, the end of which is notched to fit into a depression in the cover. Sometimes the float bowl cover comes loose, causing bad float action. Care in watching the tension of this spring Is the only cure for this, and in some cases this cover may even become warped and practically prevent the float from moving.

When You See This Radiator— Ask the Owner What He Thinks of His Car • ■' .t • . •: • • j ... . Every car dealer has certain owners which he can refer to. ’ But we refer prospective purchasers to any owner of a Columbia car. If you’re thinking of buying a car, try it yourself. If there isn’t a Columbia owner among your friends, look for the next Columbia drawn up beside the curb. Find the owner—ask him what he thinks of his car. He won’t mind it. They are all glad to tell about the service they IB getting. . • Have you ever heard of any dealer making such an ofter? And it is only reasonable that Columbia should give good consistent service. You can see the reason yourself in the specifications. The Columbia Six gives uniformly satisfactory service, because every part is of uniform high quality. Every unit is generally recognized as a leader in its field. And in addition, it has a number of exclusive features such as the automatic motor temperature control and the non-synchronizing spring suspension. Come and see how the Columbia Six motor controls its own temperature. ^ See how we have done away with all the trouble of hard starting, slow-warming up and all the fussing with hood covers in winter.
