You wiil be wlUiiig to back Indianapolis with your money if you reaDy bdHeye in your dty. Talk ia cbfap but cheap taS^ does not build cities. We haye an opportunity to let mrniey talk for Indianapolis and we need just $10,000 more to giye it a yoice loud enougrh to be heard. When the Merchants Association g^erously subscribed $10,000 to the gwanty fund which is to add its yoice in ext^ding an inyitation to the Associated Adyertising Clubs of the World to hold the 1920 internationai adyertising conyamtifui in Indianapolis, our fund crossed the $40,000 mark. Forty thousand dollars has been subscribed by less than ISO individuals and companies. We know there are 200 others who will subscribe the final $10,000. - It is not possiUe for us to call on all these concerns. We are therefore using this method of making our appeal for yoluntary subscriptions by mail. The fund must be completed this week in order that we may flash the news to the officers and executiye committee of tiie national adyertising association. We want to s^d telegrams on Saturday saying: Indianapolis backs up her invitation to the 1920 advertising convention with $50,000 to be used in attracting the largest possible number of serious minded business men and women to attend this amvention at the center of distrilwition in the United States.
Already Indianapolis is being talked about favoraUy in 150 cities where there are adyertising clubs. The Shriners are urging the advertising men to select Indianapolis for the 1920 convention. Thousands of personal letters have gone from business firms in this city to cities all over the country urging other business men to use their influence for Indianapolis. / Our plea is fpr the holding of a strictly business convention at a point easily accessiMe to the largest number of those interested in business. This plea has met a most friendly response. More than 40 per ceiit. of all the advertising dubs have already pledged their vote to Indianapolis. / Other cities that aspired to entertain the convention are weakening in their fight. On the contrary Indianapolis has constantly increased her effort. There is one final blow to be struck—and that is the formal announcement that our $50,000^ fund is completely subscribed. Every business house in Indianapolis whether large or small may have a part in swinging this blow for Indianapolis. If you do not have a subscription blank in hand, just put a letter in the mail saying how much you wiil subscribe and inclose a check for 10 percent, of your total. Make checks payable to The Advertising Club of Indianapolis and maO to our headquarters in. the Chamber of Commerce building. It would he worth $50,000 to Indianapolis just to be announced as the winner of this convention race. But that benefit will he a mere by-product, as compared with the larger advantages we will obtain. This is the biggest opportunity we have had In a long time to
