HOME AT LAWRENCEBURG
[Special to The Indtnnapolie News] LAWRENCEBURG. Ind.. August 22.— Warren N. Hauck, Judge of the circuit court district composed of Dearborn and Ohio counties, died of apoplexy at his home here Thursday afternoon. H^e was fifty-nine years old and unmarried. Judge Hauck was serving the sixth year of his term and had been ill only a few days. Hs was graduated from the Lawreneeburg high school in ISIS and the Cincinnati law school in 1883. The body will lie in state in the courtroom here from 1 to 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, after which funeral services will be held.

NEW SALEM MAN ELECTED
[Special to The Indianapolis News] GREENFIELD. Ind., August 22.More positions for preachers are being created by the Indiana conference of the Methodist Protestant church, now in Its eighteenth annual session at this city. This is making much work for the boundary committee, and the members worked out details of the plana Thursday and today. The circuit system Is passing in Indiana, and the more prosperous churches are demanding all of the time of the

Fowlerton and Pleasant Grove also were made separate stations, the former to pay 11,000, the latter 1800 a year and each to provide a parsonage. The meeting Friday morning was devoted to committee reports and the business session of the women’s missionary societies. At the annual meeting of the Preachers’ Aid Society, an organization which collects and distributes relief to elderly members of the conference and their fam ilk*?, M. F. Iliff, of New Salem, was elected president; Walter C. Williams, of Muncle, treasurer, and Lawrence Wood, of Greenfield, secretary. Laymen Elected. The board of managers Is composed of laymen and the following were elected: Indignapolis district, W. B. Sanders, of Franklin; Muncie district F. A. Lamphter, of Frankfort; Ft Wayne district, John Whittaker, of Culver. The roll of charges was referred to committees and addresses were made today by C. E. Wilbur, of Pittsburg, Pa., editor of the church’s Sunday school literature; *N. J. Shroyer, a chaplain with the army during the war and now a member of the faculty of Westminster Seminary, Westminster, -Md., and F. W. Pierpont of Pittsburg. Pa, representing the publications of the
church.

FORMER SERVICE MEN MEET Pass Resolutions at Marion Asking Civilians to Be Replaced. [Special to The Indianapolis News] MARION. Ind., August 22—Resolutions were passed at a meeting of the Byron Thornburg post No. W. American Legion, held Thursday night, protesting against the employment of civilians in the National Military homes and the quartermaster department It was said that men who had seen .Service for the country, and who are well qualified for these positions should be named at once and all of the civilian employes removed. A committee of six representing the Marion War Mothers attended the meeting and pledged the support of the organization to the former service man in every possible way.. The women presented a Bible to the poet.
