A summary of weather and crop contiflions in Indiana during the last week is giv«i by J. H. .Armington, of the local weather bureau, as follows: Nearly normal tbmperaturek prevailed. while light to good rains fell iff most localities at the beginning, and acaiiered showers occurred on several days near the close of the week. There was more cloud isees over the norther.i half of the state, but sunshine wa about the average or above for the •MUJon. While com showed considerable improvement generally as a result of the week’s showers, there was, nevertheless, a number of looalit!>.■». wpeciallv in the northeastern counties, where httl« change occurred, and where drought conditions continued. Moreov«, sufficient rain has fallen at comparatively few places. Av«r«g« Is Fair to Good. Where rtdleved: by the rains, corn rangia from fair to good in condition, and is even reported as excellent in some localities. The bulk of the cron is now advanced so that maturity will require only three or four weeks ot average weather. Some com, ho'wever. Is vary late. 3fMMiQws, pastures, late truck, potatoes and tomatoes also show^ some imiHxivenvettt, as a rule, but late potatoes generally are rather poor. The larger part of the oats crop has been thrashed, and considerable plowing for fall seeding was accomplished during the week, except tn thews places where the soil hns remained very ary. A summary for the entire country is given by the United States department of agriculture as follows; The week averaged moderate in temperature. except that it was rather I'ooi in the northeast. Light to moderRielv heavy and well distributed rains from the central and upper Mlasla^ppl valley eastward were benefteial, but very dry weather continued over the ■ central and southern plains section. improves in Some Distrieti. Com made further Improvement tn central and northern districts east of the great plains, and in the north central states, but the crop deteriorated in most sections from Nebraska southward. Thrashing of winter and spring wheat progressed favorably, except for interruptions by rain in the north central states. Spring wheat yields continue unsatisfactory. Truck and pastures improved generally, except where too dry from the central plains northwestward and tn the far west.
