Thomson &. McKinnon Grain Letter.
—January 3— Corn—There has been a slight revival of outside interest in the corn market, due partially to strong undertone persisting in the oats, but mainly to failure of country' movement to Increase. Country expresses anxiety to move the soft corn and consignment notices are moderately Increased, but taken as a whole the volume of movement is Insufficient Cash values were steady to slightly higher, both here and In’ the west. *1.40 is bid for the No. 4 grade fori shipment by January 15 and *1.30 for all January shipment. While this condition exists expectations of lower price# will not be reaiiied, hut the enormbus quantity of soft corn seeking an outlet will be a weight upon values, if by chance transportation be furnished. Oats—Sentiment in oats is strongly divided many of the most influential local interests pervaded with the idea of political developments abroad, consequently working with the idea of lower prices. Others are friendly because of the maintained premiums for cash and the continued appearance of export business on ail depressions. No export business reported today. , This market will continue displaying a deeplying tone of strength until the supply overtake the demand and accumulations apnear. Provisions-The monthly statement of stocks was construed as bearish, but there is very little offered when a demand appears Market has again been extremely narrow, a feature being the absence of selling by the larger packers.
