COPENHAGEN, August 11.-.Repre-sentatives of the German farming Interesta and the war food bureau at a meeting recently held In Berlin decided that the shortage of fodder made drastic slaughtering of cattle necessary this summer and autumn. Gelston. professor of Latin, has been appointed examiner by President T. C. Howe to succeed Professor Charles K, Underwood, whose death this summer caused this vacancy in the faculty. Professor Gelston s duties will begin with the opening of the coming school year, September 26. The special courses In organic and physiological chemistry, conducted by Professor James Brown, head of the department of chemistry and physics, will begin next Monday. These courses will continue for four weeks, closing on September 8. Five semester hours* credit will be given for the organic chemistry course, and six semester hours' credit for the other.
