Circus Htatlsfics are always of interest to the people In generai, but figures relative to the Barnum A Bailey enterprise are of eepeciai lnter«»sr, slm-e the recent return from ffiurope and the remodeling of the entire aggregation. Allen Whiting, a veteran newspaper man and the press* reprecentatlve for James Bailey, owner of the show, has statistical Infor-
mation at his tongue s end. 1 - “Bigness” of the Show.
‘‘No need to exaggerate the bigness' of the Barnum & Bailey show this year.” said Mr. Whiting, “for the truth la stranger than fiction. We have, the ‘greatest and grandest’ as ft matter of fact this year. This show Is the first one so large that there ia no necessity for the use of exaggerated figures In describing it. Indeed, Mr. Bailey gave positive orders before we started out upon the tour that advertising matter must la* prepared with strict regard for the truth. As a matter of fact, the show has always been so much larger than nil competitors that enaggeratlon wak never necessary, but we oould not escape it to some extent If we desired to keep apace with the claims of
other oil cum agents.”
Here Mr. Whiting launched into figures to bock up ids claims The mam t.-nt of the Barnum tk Bailey show, he sa>s, measures 4^1 feet in length by t& feet in width. Instead at havfng twelve rows of vents there are now twenty rows,

After all,” said Mr. Whiting, "what the .public really desires Ih quality and not quantity, and so the greatness jiMhe j clrciii, doe* not lriter* :t them so much a* the kind of a performance we will give them and the accommodations they may expect. It Is not necessary to dwell on the big features that are shown this season, but summing It up It can be said they will find the reputation of the Bar- j ntim & Bailey show fully sustained. One thing the public will be Interested in Is j the manner In which the comfort of patrons Is subserved First, Mr Bailey bus I provided a solid, though portable grand- i stand, upon which are placed S.Uw fullsized comfortable chairs We have fiftytwo boxes, each separated from the other by nickel-plated Iron railings and containing six chairs each We also have 3,200 of the old-style circus reoerved seats with the folding back. And then to complete the neating arrangements, we have about 8,000 of the ordinary circus seats, but In front of every one of them Is a foot rent sunk six Inches lower than the seat In front. For every seat sold there Is a separate ticket printed for each penformance. Everybody who ftntaf thr main tent. no.matter now nltwdr >r how little he has paid, holds a coupon showing Just what seat ho is to occupy.
Sell Only to Capacity.
“When these tickets are sold, we know the capacity has been exhausted, and no amount of money can gain admission for anybody. The gratifying result Is that wlill.. w** may turn thousands away from the door, there wili be a seat for everybody Inside, and not a person will be seen
standing.
“Some doubting Thomases may ask if Mr. Bailey Is running his show for fun. i can answer that question truthfully by saving no, but 1 can with equal verity say that he Is running It as a matter of pride, and with a view of keeping his army of faithful followers employed.
