The Saturday Market. The receipts to-day were larger than a week ago and more than twice ns large as a year ago. Shipping orders, a# usual on Saturday, were not liberal or important. and it was evident at the start that .'.lesmen would have to make some concessions in prices. Notwithstanding their limited opposition, however, packers were Inclined to be reasonable, and, having purchased rather sparingly for several days, they were in a position to take all the supply. A trading basis was arranged rather early in the day, and the trading was as active as could have been expected. Most sales represented ll)e decline from yesterday, and occasionally they appeared to l>e lac lower. The range In prices was from $6.00 to $6.20, and the bulk of the supply sold at $6.10^4>.15. At the extreme close of the week salesmen had to contend with a too plentiful supply of Western stock of only fair quality and native grade# of about the same class. The trade #eemed to be well euppiled with this kind of cattle, and It was impossible to effect a clearance at any price. There was a fair demand for stockers and feeders from professional buyer# the early part of the week, but the country demand at the close of the week was again disappointing and the market more unsatisfactory. There was possibly no kind of cattle except fancy cows and heifers selling as high at the close of this week os at the close of laat

the week. There

were no important orders from any quarter, consequently It was difficult to consummate sales, and prices as a rule, were haidly aa satisfactory as yesterday. At tne close of the day a large n-umoer of cattle remained unsold, or were sent out

Sheep Conditions Satisfactory. The sheep and lamb market this week has been comparatively satisiactory. Part of the time there was no really urgent competition between buyers, but at su.h times the supplies were small and, therefore, buyers had no advantage over salesmen. When the receipts were more liberal there was an Increased demand from local sources, and, fortunately, the conditions throughout the week were rather favorable to salesmen, who succeeded in maintaining a strong average In prices, in fact at the close of this week extra selections were selling a trifle stronger than they have for some time
