ITEITHEit BROTHER WILL V0LT7NTBBB AN EXPLANATION.
Both Men Are. Leaf Mute., the Sons of a Prominent and Influential Man. fSpacd&l to ThaiIndlnnapolla New*.] HAQ1SKSTOWN, Ind., March 28.—One ot the most seruartlonal and mysterious affairs that ever occurred In the county wa» that which happened at East Germantown, eight rntles from here, on Saturday morning, txsiet details of which have been published by Th. News. Edward Binkley, twenty-flve years old, a deaf mute, shot his brother Robert, ago nineteen, also a deaf mute, flv. times With a revolver, each .of the shots taking effect, one of which, ia all likelihood, will prove fatal. The alt ail r happened In the front yard at their father’s house, on the National road, just west of the village. Edward* who did the shooting, la married, and lives on. a farm owned by his father, five miles distant. He has a charming wife, and a*little daughter live years old, who ia a paragon of childish perfection, at least in the eyes ot her parents and grandparents. Robert, the younger, started from his father's houfee Saturday morning, to visit the home of his brother. He waa driving in a buggy, and a. he reached the place where his brother live, ha found Edward In the act of driving out, going to the postoffice. Robert did not go into the house, but turned and drove ahead of Edward back to town. It ia not known that any con-
versation passed between the two on the road. They drove straight to the home of their father, and as they alighted from the buggy and proceeded through the front yard, Edward drew his revolver and commenced firing. Their mother was in the house and hearing the shots attempted to prevent the progress, but Edward did not cease firing until Robert fell with a bullet In his chest. The wounded man was taken Into the house and a physician was summoned. Edward was suffered to go about his business. The cause of the shooting promises to remain a mystery. Neither of the young men will give ai\ explanation, and the family have not been urged to satisfy the curiosity of the public. Many sensational rumors are afloat touching the relations of tl^e young men, but they are mere rumors 'and can not be given any weight. Only this appears to be established: Edward Is a hasty man when angered, and has the reputation of being Quarrelsome and violent. Robert was home from a vacation from the Deaf and Dumb Institute at Indianapolis. He was expecting to return shortly. Edward was also educated at that institution, as well as his wife, they both having graduated several years ago.
ty. It la not likely that active prosecution will follow the shooting. VEHICLE LICENSES DUE. Prospect of Many Arrests After This Week. The probability is that next week a large number of persons will be arrested for not having vehicle licenses. After this month those without licenses are subject to arrest and fine, but up to to-day only about 26 per cent, of the number who had vehicle licenses last year had applied this year, and only about 16 per cent, of last year’s number of bicycle licenses had been purchased.
