Last Saturday morning he lapsed Into unconsciousness, from which he did not revive. "He slept himself away,” said the attendants, after the death had been announced. Death resulted from disease
of the heart.
The time for the funeral has not yet

Frederick Baggs was born In April, 1834, In the State of Maryland, and came to this city fifty-five years ago. He engaged In mercantile pursuits, and was for a time a clerk in the State sinking fund, which was located in the old bank building that a few years ago stood on the site now occupied by the Indiana National Bank. I^e clerked for several years In the retail dogoods house of Oliver Tousey. afterward Tousey A Byram, in East Washington street, where the Vonnegut hardware house now stands. In 1863 the firm left the retail business and opened a wholesale dry goods house in South Meridian street, of which Mr. Baggs was for sev-
eral years the chief bookkeeper.
In the early seventies he was Collector of Internal Revenue for this district. In more recent years he was the agent In this city for the DePauw plate-glass-works, then at New Albany, and later he assisted William Wesley Woollen, manager of the Indianapolis clearing house. For several years. Mr. Woollen having retired. Mr. Baggs was manager of the clearing-hoi'se, continuing in that position
up to the time of his death. Qwlet and I'nostenfntloa*.
He was always quiet, unostentatious and a firm and steadfast friend, with the kindliest sympathies for his fellow-man. He was best known and best loved through his connection with Roberts Park M. E. church, of which he and his wife had bo:h been members for more than fifty years, Mr. Baggs having Joined Roberts chapel, the parent of the present Roberts Park church. In AprU. 1M6, and his wife in 1817
when a girl fourteen years old.
On February », 1899, Mr. and Mrs. Baggs celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding. The occasion was taken advantage of to present to the venerable couple a memorial of their church work. This was prepared by Col. John W. Ray. It set out that Mr. Baggs had been a class-leader In the church for over thirtyfive years; trustee for terms amounting
to thirty-eight years, steward for three years, Sunday-school superintendent for thirty-two years and Sunday-school
Sunday-school four years. ThH memorial said: "You have been acquainted with the glories, the triumph*, the victories of old Roberta chapel and Roberts Park; have heard the shouts of Joy from lips now shouting In heaven. Today (February », 1199) you gr*eet Sister Bly. the only surviving member of the church of 1842. as you and she march to the heavenly home.” . He leaves a widow and two daughters— Mrs. Joseph W. Beck, with whom he and hi# wife made their home, at 1790 North Pennsylvania street, end Mrs. Louis A. ICoehne, also of this city.
WILLIAM SEATON DEAD. Died Last Night After mn Illness Which Began In February. Dr. William Howland Seaton died last night, a few minutes before 10 o’clock, after an Ulnese which began In February last, from which he had partially recovered, but which was followed by a relapse. Yesterday morning, in a last attempt to save Dr. Seaton’s life, Dr. Albert E. Sterne removed a cyst which had formed on the brain. The operation was unavailing. . Dr. Seaton, who was born In this city, was graduated from the Indiana Medical College, and In 1894 took a post-graduate course in New York city, after which he began practice in this city. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. William D. Seaton, a member of the Masonic order and of the Marion Club. He leaves a widow, Mrs. Blanche Brown Seaton. The funeral will be held from hia late home, at Pennsylvania and Pratt streets, at 2 p. m, tomorrow. KISSED ms BOY.
