SUIT FOR 1100,000 DAMAGES The Sensational Newspaper Story Upon Which It la Based. — Fresno. Cal., January 20.—Suit has been begun by Charles A. Schwelser, a harnessmaker, against the San Francisco Call to recover damages In the sum of $100.000 for alleged libel. The article upon which the suit is based was a sensational story to the effect that Schwelser had hired John Barker, since dead, to assassinate Solomon Lehman, upon whose life Schwelser held an insurance policy for $5,000, as security for money loaned. The grand jury investigated the chargee and arrived at the conclusion that they were the result of a conspiracy to blackmail Schw'elser. Three attempts were made to assassinate Lehman, and a charge of shot fired from an ambush wounded his daughter, who was riding with him at the time. AN EARTHQUAKE IN KISHM.
