Oeorfe Hobson, a* butcher at the abattoir, was killed by lightning as he was going to work at 5:06 o'clock this morning. He lived In Springfield street. Indlanola, and was in River avenue. West Indianapolis, when he was struck dead. lYe had reached the Intersection of River aven-ie and Drover street, when one of the vivid flashes of lightning that were follow'.ig one another at that hour atruok one c,t the shade trees and followed a large limb and the t*vrk down to about live feet from the groind and then jumped to HoV ecn’e head, aa he was passing under the tree. His hat flew from bis head and he fell full length across the walk upon kia face. No one saw him fall, but hie body •was observed almost Immediately afte--ward by people In houses around aboit, who jumped from their beds and went to the doors to see what the lightning bad struck. The man fell a few feet from the door of k grocery at 63 River avenue, and Albert. Olajsler and son Ollie, who live across the street, at No. 66, saw :ne body as soon as they got to the door. They hurriedly dressed, and, walking to the place, saw that the man was d?ad The members of the family at No. 53 and neighboring houses were by this time on the street. The coroner was aroused front bis bed and had the body removed befo e • o’clock. When first observed, the face and ohest were blade, but the natural color returned after the body was washed and cared for by the undertaker. Taere were no marks upon the body, but the •balr was singed upon the left side, indicating that the bolt had proceeded to the ground by way of the left leg. There was a hole through the hat In the front top. The leather dinner-box he carried >.l from his hand as he dropped. He bled freely from nose and mouth. His clothes were not burned. The bark was chipped from the tree enough to show the course •f the lightning in Its descent Hobson was twenty-eight years old and leaves a Bvjfe, but no children. Hobson had been In the employ of the Abattoir company only two weeks, as a driver, but was well known among toe meat men, as he had been employed by Nelson Morris A Co., Stephen Crawford, George Haanmel and others for years. John Dennis’s house, at 94 Marion ayeBue, West Indianapolis, was struck . y lightning at S** o’clock this morning and shingles and sveatherboarding tom off. The members of the family felt the shock and set about an immediate investigauo.i.

Frank Herald Is a son-ln-law of Morrison, and yesterday evening when he went to his home at 21 Springfield street he found his wife and baby had gone. He thought she had left him for good. He went to Morrison's house, taking with him

McMlllen, vice-president; Hon. W. L. Barnea, secretary, and M. P. Alpha, treasurer, ail of Charlestown. Only tlx members of the original association are still alive. It was shown that there are five couples in the county who have been married over fifty years.

The City Hospital physicians say that Morrison is in no Immediate danger unless the clothing and cloth carried Into the body by the shot causes blood poison. Mew Plan Under Consideration By the Commiaaloners.

J. H. Stem, architect, has drawn plans Cor a school building of a pattern different from any this city has ever known. Theso plans have been shown to the several members of the board and have received favorable mention, but have not yet been adopted. They are offered merely by way ,©f suggestion and to point out what may fbe considered a reform In the construction of school bifildings. The plans cf Vhlch the front elevation is •provide for a one-story building o. twelve frowns, each 27 by 34 feet; each room is ‘*3 feet high and in addition to windows Ids lighted from the top by a sky-light 14 ■%y 20 feet. The building is designed to oe 175 feet long and. 109 feet deep, with (Wide entrance* and corridors 25 feet in Width. The building would be of brick, and It la estimated would not cost much more than half tuf much as the present buildings, which afford no more room. ]t is calculated that In case of fire the entire building could be emptied in two mlntites.
