! .The* Interior of MfTidian-afreet Methodist church has been renovated. Fur 1 weeks the decorators have been at work, «nd next week . they will finish. The imjirovemchtg have been planned in harmony with the architecture of the church. Instead of a; mixture of Oofhtc, with socalled modern adornment, the* new decorations will be entirely Gothic. The anftiltecture of the church is originally Gothic. 2n the former frescoes, however, Romanesque arches were thrown’ over the windows, and the ceilings were modeled after the large panels which prevail In most public meeting places. From the artistic standpoint all this Is said to have been defective, and tt has been remedied in the new frescoes. , Instead of the Romanesque arches, true Gothic arches have been made. From «aeh corbel which supports the Gothic rafters of the roof, pilasters have been made to represent the eolumhs of a true Gothic church. The Gothic Idea has been carried out even to the panels of the ceiling. The whole effect is one of light
and hight.
The tracery on the walls Is something hew In church decoration. It also la borrowed from -the old ecclesiastic architecture. The ecelesSaatic lamp is used as a means of decoration. The coloring Is
in gold and darker term ootta. The new decorations- have been proIOi Ohurch a week from to-morrow.

Griswold has been employed at Goshen, but he mysteriously disappeared two days before the Kessler hold-up, and he remained away until arrested for the Deerfield undertaking. There Is a very unpleasant feeling at Terre Haute between the mayor and members Of the City Council and Russell Harrison, president of the street car company, growing out of the refusal of the stree; railway company' to pay its proportion of the cost of street Improvements, n >arly $1<W,(X)0 of which has been taxed against the company. Yesterday the mayor of the city submitted to an Interview. 'n which he criticised Mr. Harrison in the severest terms, and questioned his supposed purchase ot the plant of the company. William Conrad, of Watsaw. chairman of the congreselonul central commitee In the Thirteenth district, has issued a call for a conference of party leaders at Plymouth on Monday next, looking to fixing a date for a convention to nominate a successor for Congressman Conn, who formally declines to make the race. The fact that Mr. Conn Is not In accord with the Democratic party on several public questions is understood as prompting hi* fin ut decision not to accept rcnominatlon. There are several men in the dUtrfcrt wining to make the race. Details of the affray at Hamlet show thut it was* very serious affair.
