Gray U not disposed to be very communicative on the subject, there is no indication of a special retbion being called at the present lime, although the necessity lor one 1* conceded on all ■idea. A democrat, who Is on the Inside, said this morning that there would be no extra session until afier ’ Senatorelect Turpie had taken his seat in the senate of the United States. When asked about his intentions Governor Gray this alternoon said that there would be no use of aa extra j kept in session If the present deadlock continued, but he ! are oite< did not say that he would not call one. The republicans still insist on Colone^Kobertsou’s right to preside over the senate, and will listen to no offers of a compromise of this position, and this i* the stumbling-block at the present time. To-day all the members are preparing to go to their home*, their principal occupation being the interchange ol photographs and auto-
graphs.
The Senate Proceeding*. In the senate Saturday afternoon Mr. Sellers's two-hundred-dollar liquor license bill was taken up and declared passed by President Smith by a \ote oi 28 to 10, present and not voting 7, it being stated that the republican* were recorded as voting in the a airmailve, although, as usual, they did not respond as their name< were called. The service {tension resolution, offered by Mr. McDonald, was passed after having bt eu amended by Senator Zimmerman so a« to declare against granting pensions on account of rank in the army, and tiiat the only distinction made should be lu grading disability, and not rank. A resolution was adopted allowing Garber A. Taylor Stm for stenographic work in tho investigation of the insane hospital, and feSJO to Henry Spaan lor acting as
counsel.
The session was opened with prayer by Senator Smith, this morning, and the journal ot S turday’s proceedings was re ail lor the first time this
session.
Mr. Shively asked U> obtain leave to introduce a bill to prevent gambling in stocks, petroleum, lottery, grain, provision and other produce, etc., which was read the first time and referred to tho
judiciary Committee.
Mr. Weir called up the special or< intion calling for the reorganiz

they find, in a general
wav, that none of the
charge* made by' the executive committee of the Indiana Civil ben ice Reform association against the institution are true, except that the management la democratic. They add that the charge* that lavoritUm ha* been shown democrats in the awarding of supplies has been disproved; that J. >. Hall. the bookkeeper is not incompetent: that the board of tiustees have not been extravagant; that the boilers are all right, and that the inmate* are treated humanely and kindly, and the institution kept in excellent condition throughout. Figures are cited to show that the demo ratic ma-aae-ment has been more economical then the republican, and Dr. Harrison ia warmly indorsed.' The majority report of the house committee, signed by all the republicans, is a very elaborate and complete document. It seUoui lu a general way all the damaging evidence that has been adduced during the investigation, which is already well known, and it makes the following recommendation.'.: 11) That I tie present board of trustee* be removed, it necessary, by action brought
