It seems that an aid-de-camp, Count Reutern, was awaiting the czar in the royal palace, and the weather being warm the count unbuttoned his tunic. The czar returned sootier than expected, and Reuteu arose hurriedly and began to rebutton bis tunic, whereupon the czar, thinking that the officer was about to draw a weapon, shot him dead.

Yesterday afternoon the orphan management was asked to change their time to a week day, as that would give all the German societies au opportunity to particimate, and besides it would not interfere with she Hari-gari, but the proposition was declined. It was also urged' that by giving the entertainment on a week day, and not on Sunday evening, it would enable triends of the asylum to come who have conscientious acrupies against Sunday performances, end •ren this suggestion was unheeded.
