Building Permits: Otto Stechhan, repairs of factory, Fort Wayne avenue, $3,000; Brace A Love Brothers, factory, W hke river bank, near Washington street, $3,000; W. A. Rhodes A Co., coal office and sheds, Delaware near Merrill, $350. George W. Banter and wife, en route overland from Knightstown, this state, to Kansas, were capiased in this city to-day to answer a claim of $100 for professional services. alleged to be dne James L. Shelton and Wilbur Woods, attorneys. The matter is now pending before ’Squire Feibleman. Y. M. C. A. headquarters have been established at the chapel of the First Presbyterian chnrch for to-day and to-morrow, and at the meeting to-morrow evening further arrangements will be made. Every member of the association is expected to attend the meeting at the rooms on Illinois street tomorrow evening. A Lady Feloniously Assaulted. Mrs. Mary Hardin, widow, aged twentyfour, is visiting her widowed sister-in-law, Mrs. Mains, who lives near Brownsbnrg, Hendricks county, eighteen miles west of this city. The ladies had no protection save a yonng farm hand. Yesterday morning Mrs. Hardin went to the barn, not far from the house, to attend to the. cows, and as she stepped inside she was seised by a tramp, who, notwithstanding her resistance, committed 4 felonious assault. The scoundrel had spent the night in the barn. Afterward he made his escape into a cornfield, and the alarm was given, so that within a short time a score and more of farmers were in pursuit. Within a few hours the pursuers numbered a thousand and more of men and boys, and all the roads and paths were patrolled by a force armed with every imaginable weapou, running from a club and a pitchfork to a musket which has not seen service since the war. The deputy Prosecutor, Keeling, of this county, was in the neighborhood of Brownsburg at the time, and ne reports the excitement as intense, and that the crowd was bent on lynchinc the scoundrel if he fell into their hands. It was Keeling who brought the news to this city, and it was thought that the ravisher was headed for Indianapolis, but at noon to-day Mr. Hardin, who is a relative of the woman, reported that the fellow was found last evening in the cornfield where he first ran, and that he had been taken to the jail at Danville. He was recognized as a tramp who had been working for a month and more on different farms in that neighborhood and who was familiar with the unprotected condition ot the ladies where the outrage was committed. Mrs. Hardin is the daughter of Joseph Mains, who lives near Traders’ Point, and ■he is a woman commanding the respect of all her associates. A Prosecution Which Kicked Back. Among the defendants in the city court today was Mrs. Jennie Parent and Mrs. Belle Kills, the former under the ill-fame law and the latter for maintaining alleged adulterous relations with a man named Carson. By agreement, the trial was continued until Wednesday. The complainant is Charles Kills, of Madison avenue, husband of one of the women, and, after the postponement ot the trial in the city court, he was arrested on ajpeace surety warrant, issued on complaint of Mrs. Kills, and this case will come before ’Squire Feibleman on Wednesday. While in the presence of the court he abused Mrs. Kills, and neglecting the warning of the squire he was rearrested and trill be proceeded against for contempt. Kills and his wife asp a rated tome months ago, and the defense claim that ho gave his wife a bill of sale for all their furniture, and is now persecuting her because she will not sell it and give him half the proceed*; furthermore, that Mrs. Parent has fallen under the bau in his eyes because she bad given Mrs. Kills shelter. The man Carson is said to have left the city several months ago, and is now living in Michigan. The Light Infantry Organization, The Light Infantry will leave to-morrow for the Lafayette encampment, and the organization goes with high hopes of capturing first honors, for which they have been assiduously drilling for months. The company labors under the embarrassment, so far as the state militia is concerned, of not being a pert thereof, inasmuch as it is now known as the police reeerve of this city, bat, as the competition at Lafayette is open to the world, this is no bar to that contest. If the lade are successful in securing honorable recognition, the city ought to give them a reception npon their return, such as Kokomo bestowed upon her Knights when they carried off the honors at Toronto, the more partieniarly because ibe Infantry is properly a part of the city, and Indianapolis has reaped more credit over it* achievements in previous contests than has fallen to it from any other eouree. The organization is under the command of Captain Boss. Yesterday the company gave a dress parade at the exposition grounds, which was witnessed by a large number. A Varied City Court Docket. The offensee passed upon in the city court to-day were not so numerous as varied. There was a smaller per cent of drunks than usual, bat among tbe latter was Jimmie Yaw, who suffered more than hia share, because of a mild debauch. He was "bilinV’ true, but while passing down Illinois street last evening he interfered with the eport ot some j uvenues, who stoned him in return, scarring his face, tearing his hat and bruising his body in several places, so that to-day he was se sore he con Id hardly walk. Jimmie was commander of the Cleveland Guards in the last campaign, bat this morning he was not in condition to captain even an awkward eqnad. George Greathouse and Chris. Field, diminutive juveniles, were aent down for robbing A. J. Meyer’s office. The little rascals tried their skill on the safe, bat were unable to epen it, and eo their spoils went no farther than a few pennies and other unimportant articles. Matthew Gayton, for striking Otto Boyer, was fined $5 and eoete, and a eqnad of peddlers were assessed for intem-
perance.
Promiscuous Burglary.
The pastoral residence of Vicar General Scbeideler was raided by burglars Saturday BigOt, and a box in which valuables are supposed to have been kept was carried off and rifled. Owing to the absence of the vicar general, the lose can not be enraised. Several other depredations are also stated to have occurred Saturday and last night, and there is reason for believing that a regular gang of thieves is raiding the city. Bat few
of the depredations, it is also stated, are given publicity, either from tailors of the
victims to report to police headquarters, or tbo dislike of the police to have the public know what is going on. Hereaft or if information concerning robberies are sent direct to the press it will have the effect to put citizens on their guard, and perhaps give inch one oe will enable the authorities to make .
