BAILROAD MATTERS.

The C., H. £ I. and Union Kailway Companies’ Differences—Success of the Brightwood Home.

It is understood that the receiver of the Lake Erie A Western Road will decline to receive tickets of the old Issue which were sold by whole■ale to the scalpers. It will be remembered that 4,200 Kansas City and 12.200 St. Louis ticket* over the LEA W. and the Alton were sold at S9 and *1 each, respectively, from Sandusky and other points, beside* certain round trip tickets, the enure lot netting 9104.000. The fear is that these tickets will never be exhausted, and that they are still to be had from seali>ers and brokers is a perpetual menace to the maintenance ol rates. The Wabash receivers were sustained by tlie courts iu their declination to receive tickets of a thnilar issue, and it is thought this gives the Cue to the solution ot the LEA W. question. The Brightwood Home, operated by the Bee Line, is reported to be an unqualified success. Clean rooms and beds are furnished free to railroad men, and a free bath is also at the disposal of patron* of the Home. Meals are furnished at 25 cents each, and they are good enough to attract frequently from two to three hundred diners. A lunch counter Is also In oja-ration, and us nothing Ifrtoxicatlug U to be had, and a* employes of the Bee Line and I. A SU L are prohibited from using liquors, the sales of luncheon, Including coffee and milk, are prodigious. They do say that thq L A St. L brakemen are the heartiest eaters in this “neck o’ woods,’’ and that seven and eight meals and luncheons per day, w Idle resting up at

the Home, are not uncommon.

The L, D, A 8. has begun to lay fifteen miles of new steel. The eighty miles out from this city are already steel, and before the close of the next pear it is intended to have nothing but steel ou
