An Egyptian Uprising Feared. Cairo, November 27.—The captain who brought the news of Hicks Pasha’s defeat Hate* that he was allowed to escape only on professing the Moslem faith. The massacre, he says, was uot so universal as at first ht-lleved, as the Kgyptian soldiers who were so disposed were allowed to join l he force* of El Mahdl. There 1- reason to believe that emissaries of El Mahdl are busy in the large towns of upper Egypt, and a general rising was feared. Emissaries of EI Mahdl have arrived In Tripoli and Algeria. Although optimist reports are not believed, the possibility of the Egyptian-Soudan army being safe is being again discussed. Colonel Coetlogau sends a message from Khartoum dated November ri->, saving Yizitelly, the artist of the London Graphic, is tbe sole survivor of the recent battle with El Mabdi’s forces, and that he is a prisoner at El Obeid. Colonel Coetlogan says the situation is most critical.
