John Walker's Death, The coroner this morning returned a verveidict in the case of John Walker, the painter killed by a fall in the Morrison block, South Meridian street, recently. He finds that the defective trasses, which caused the accident, were constructed on the moet approved plan, bat that the center rod should bavo been tightened as the truss shrank. The verdict is based on the expert testimony of Peter Rontier, the bnilder. He testified he had examined the trues that supported the roof. The truss was made aa It is usually, bat had dried out, aa the lumber does after some years in aay building, and, in this case, the truss had shrank probably an inch. This left the brace, where it joined the principal rafter, in a loose condition. It is not the custom, Mr. Routier said, to nail the braces, and he had never known a case where the brace was nailed or pinned to the principal rafter. In cheap work, when the center rod is not need, the braces are often nailed. In thia case, he found no fault with the construction of the truss
and He braces.
