I Londcn correspondence New York Times.] The international boat race on the Thames, yesterday, is not likely to advance the friendly interests ol the two countries in the matter of athletic sports. Even the Times, which is generally very careful not to arouse ill-feeling among the contestants in the great field sf sports and pastimes, condemns "the unsportsmanlike conduct” of the American crew. Experts as well as ordinary lookers-on sav that the Hillsdale imen'deliberately fouled their adversities, and they crossed and bored them conticua’ly. In spite of this the; were beaten, and as soon as they; felt their defeat they stopped and held up a piece of one of their sliding seats to shgw that they had met with an accideat. It is feared among Englishmen that they were guilty of tactics that will be condemned as mium by their fellow countrymen as they are here. The truth is themen were unequal in physique, and no doubt in pluck, to the Thames men, but they came to snow England a new rnsthod of rowing. They adopted a quick short stroke, which depended for success on strergih of arm alone, when they saw itithntrated, Thames watermen said it could not stand the severe test of a race.
