John Morrison Reid, re-elected, was born in New Yory city in 1880. He entered the New York conference in 1344, and his commanding talents secured for him lead ug appointments. He was for* a time president of Genesee college, and while in that position the general conference of 1364 elected him editor of the Western Christian Advocate at Cincinnati, and four years later editor of the Northwestern Christian Advocate at Chicago. In these positions he was distinguished as a writer. While editor of the Northwestern Advocate he was elected a blshon in the Csnsdian Methodist Episcopal church, but he declined the position, preferring to remain in the church ot his first choice, in 1872 he was elected one of the cor-
