Yartf Maafera In Convention. The Convention reassembled at 2 o’clock, at which the committee on permanent organization reported, nominating James Williams, A. <fe P., St. Louis, President; and George F. David, of the Bee Line, Secretary. This report was concurred in as also that of the committee on by-laws and constitution. Superintendent Evans, of the C. H. & I. road, tendered the association a free ride to Cincinnati over that line, for which thanks were returned and an adjournment was had until 10 o’clock to-day.

to-day’s proceedings.

The morning session of the convention was occnpied in making some immaterial changes in the constitution and by-laws, adopted yesterday. The delegates present were requested to plate their names upon the record as members of the T. M. M. B. Association, after which an election of officers for the ensuing year was held with the following result: President, B. Kring, N. Y. Central, Buffalo; First Vice'President, P. Williams, St Louis; Second Vice President, A. Scott, J. M. & I., Louisville; Grand Secretary and Treasurer, H. McPeek, C.. H. & I., Indianapolia Executive Committee, E. A. Cooper, I. B. <fc W., city; John Fields, J. . M. & I.. city; Frank Reynolds, Bee Line, city; Walter Brown, O*. & M., St. Louis; John Carney, Dayton Short Line. Dayton. The officers elect took their respective seats and the President said: “I feel proud of the honor von have conferred upon me, and am afraid it is misplaced confidence on your part I think that our cause is a just one and that this 'Mutual Benefit Association will be one of the best things ever organized. I hope all will make an effort to enlarge its membership.” For myself it met my views as soon as I saw your circular, and I did not come here with the expectation of holding any office, but since you have expressed a preference for me I accept the trust Buisness.” The usual vote of thanks was tendered the retiring officers, the city for courtesies extended and the press for kindly notices

of their proceedings.

The convention then proceeded to ballot for the next place of meeting, which resulted in the selection of Buffalo, New York, on

the 2d Wednesday of June, 1875.

The association adjourned at 1 p. m., and banquet this evening at the Sherman House, preparatory to the members leaving for their

respective tomes.

Darnall, Cl. If. A.. Etc. Cal. Darnall elevates his spine over the equib of yesterday, and he rises with a multitude of reasons why heVoted for reconsideration of the Stilz annexation—prominent among which he wanted a committee to Investigate, it was t*o late for the ’74 tax duplicate, to make the annexation correspond to precedent heretofore established, etc. The News, not for countless millions, would hit Darnell a lick amiss, and it warms the cockles of its heart to hear that Calvin has some foundation, in his own mind, for such a reconsideration. For a truly good man to grieve is sad, therefore, Darnall, cheer up! One too Many. The act of 1874 provides for the payment of only 191 of the internal improvement bonds, and there has been paid up to date 98. Tne United States Government holds 69 of the outstanding number, and now comes that Liverpool man with 25, making a grand total of 192, or one more than there is provision for payment made. Either the 1874 act of redemption overlooked one, or else the bonds have numerically increased since transpl ;ng to a foreign shore.

The Carlisle Corner. Among the many improvements that have taken place in the western part of our city during the pist year, there is none more prominent than the three-story brick business block, just about completed bv our enterprisirg citizen, Mr. John Carlisle, at the comet of North West and Washington streets, and named “Carlisle Comer. ’’ The block consists of four large business rooms, with ornamented black walnut and plate glass fronts, making a very commanding and attractive appearance on Washington street, unsurpassed in finl h by any in the city. The comer store has been occupied as a drug store during the last six months by Mr. Robert L. Whitton, who is widely known as one of the ablest

The west store room of the block is rented, and will be opened about the 1st March as a millinery and fancy notion store. • One of the rooms still unoccupied is adapted to almost any kind of business—good light and lofty, and especially suitable for a dry goods store, and could be rented very low for the first year to a desirable party desirous of embarking in this branch of business. The other store Mr. Carlisle has designed for a general restaurant and lunch rooms, with bakery and bake-room m the large basement rooms, feeling confident there is a wide field at this end of the city for an energetic man to do a large business in this line, as there are two large livery stables in the immediate vicinity, most of the time crowded^ with fanners and others from the sarronnding country. These stores are only two squares from the State House, stand on high ground, and will at once become an attraction to the vast population visiting our city from the country west of us. The Interior of the buildings are all finished in superior style, both as regards quality of material and workmauship, and have introduced in them all the modem conveniences, including gas and water on each story, and likewise detached water closet and wood and coal sheds to each story, so that families living on one floor are in no way inconvenienced by those on the floor above them or below them. to s
