They exhibit the king of real organs, the Burdett Combination, and the sweet-toned Peloubet Also a splendid case of band and small musical instruments. The importation and sale of band instruments has become a great feature in their business, which is demonstrated trom the fact that over two thousand Hoosier boys are now “tootin' ” Ben ham Bros, horns. This is a^device to utilize com stalks, stubble, and other long fibrous substances of the held, cutting them up as the plow advances, in lengthens the width of the furrow slice, enabling the plow to turn under all such to fertilize the soil, and at the same time to save the labor and expense of raking and burning them to get them out of the way of the

NT ATE FAIR. Flftfti Day-Fallln* off of Attsmtonee. The State Fair for 1872 is about over. Nothing now remains to be done but to finish making the awards and remove the stuff. The attendance torday was rather slim, the great rush of yesterday having sufficed to exhaust the popular interest in the show. To-day there Is au excellent chance to see •vorything, the halls not being crowded to an uncomfortable degree. Over the grounds and about the horse ring there are groups of people, but no dense crowds as yesterday, and the attendance, at the utmoet, will not be more than one-third as great as that of the big day. The fact is tliat a simple show of livestock, farm machinery etc., grows more monotonous about the thirt 1 day, and the interest will fag in spite of all that free advertising end the efforts of energetic officers can * Mooli of the eucoess of the present Fair is due to the exertions of the very efficient and energetic Superintendent, Mr. Caldwell, and the Secretary, Mr. Herron. For months they have been very busy working up the fair, and awakening an interest in it among all classes, and they find their reward in having brought about the most successful fair, and the most satisfactorily conducted that has ever been held tinder the auspices of the Board. „ ^ w „ Much credit is due to the Fort Wayne Cornet Band, a splendid organization of twentyone pieces, and the only one in the State whiw had the spirit of enterprise sufficiently developed to come forward and compete for the prise. The hand is composed of a fine looking set of fellows, handsomely and tastefully uniformed, and they discourse most excellent music. They have, by their daily performances on the ground, added much to the pleasure of visitors. Among the distinguished visitors to the grounds this morning were Secretary Boutwall and Senator Morton, who drove out together. Mr. Boutwell alighted from their carriage and visited the office of the Board. This afternoon will cloee up the exhibition. Mau\y exhibitors are already making preparations to remove their stock and other arti-
clea.
The decisions of the awarding committees have been mafoly of a character to satisfy all except the disappointed expectants of rad and blue ribbons. There is, of course, the usual amount of grumbling by those exhibitors who, coming in with the confident expectation of carrying off prizes, have been doomed to disappointment; but that is al■ways a feature in affairs of this kind, and the lookers on very generally applaud the
decisions arrived at
One of tire most marked features of this morning was the persistent and vociferous manner iu which the lager beer vendors callad attention to their stock. Back of the amphitheater there was a continuous cry of ^Here’s your fresh lager beer ” “Right this way tor a cool glass of lager;" “Step this way gentlemen, 'ora cool drink of beer;” “Beat lager on the grounds here; just Upped ” and so on till one could have fancied theta was little else but beer on the ground The Tenders of cider and weak lemonade
were lees demonstrative.
At eleven o’clock the grand parade of premium cattle and horses took place on the time track. A finer collection of blooded cattle waa probably never seen in the Bute. It waa, however, impossible to gam a satisfactory view of the exhibition, from the fact that nine-tenths of the spectators crowded upon the view of the better behaved portion ofthe lookers on, despite the weak efforts of the re*—*** 1 * to keep the ground clear. The ahow of horns was also good—but not
to compare with that of cattle.

There is a very large display of two-horse plows, possessing many points of merit, but Win. L. rouse’s driven WELia. If anybody ever doubted the usefulness or the capacity of Rouse’s driven well, such doubts must be removed now, as one well kept the steam engines, street sprinklers and several thousands of visitors in water yesterday, keeping the water tank running over besides. It was run by one of Dean’s steam pumps. The water works, which enabled 100 persons to draw water at the same time, was a perfect success. Ladies and gentlemen were all lavish in their praises of Rouse’s driven well and water works, which worked like a charm through the day. He didn’t make much noise about a rotary pump he had 6n exhibition, but we noticed several good mechanics who were free to express it ihat it was the best pump in that line on the grounds. We don’t believe the man lives but will speak well of ihe driven well hereafter if he saw the workings of it through the time of the State Fair. EXCURSION. We hope that hundreds of the visitors to the fair took the time and pains to look in upon Powell A Newby, at the Spencer House. On next Tuesday these gentlemen start an excursion to Kansas City and other points West The train will leave the Union Depot at 8 p. m., and be under the care of Mr. Newby. The rates of fare from here to Kansas i ity and return is only $20. For further inormatiion address them at the Spencer House. COMMERCIAL. Garvin A Heinley, of the Commercial College at Terre Haute, took the first premiums ju business and card writing. In our notice of Wednesday, in regard to their skill as penmen, we should have said a specimen of birds in a wreath, instead of in a tree.
