Regular meeting of Council this evening. Two attempts at incendiarism on Sat urday. This week the Indianapolis Savings Bank opens up operations.Anniversary of the organiitation of the Choral Union to-night. All people who understand themselves, speak of Indianapolis a* one of the most beautiful cities of the West. The Chicago excursionists got back this morning looking improved from the breathing of the pure gales of the lake. Captain Isaac Jacks was robbed last night of f.30d, at the corner of Ohio and Tennessee streets, and the thieves made good their escape. John, twelve vears of age, son of Valentine Miller, Es<p, yesterday afternoon fell from a )>each tree in Ketcham’s addition and was injured severely in the head and shoulder. The dam constructed across the canal in order to facilitate the building of the Kentucky avenue sewer under it, gave way last evening, and the damage to the sewer con' tractors will be about $1,100. Hel wig’s mill, the chair factory, was saved from being Chicagoized on Saturday night Incendiaries placed rubbish m the engine room, but the watchman was too prompt for much damage to be done. Two lads were seen Saturday afternoon hovering about Hinseley’s stable, one with a lighted candle, and the other carrying a wad of liay. The men about the place alarmed the boys and they dropped everything and fled. Baptist men, delegates to the Baptist anniversaries that begin this evening at the First Baptist Church, were constantly arriving today over the different routes. They look not unlike our recent Methodist visitors in facial contour and respectibility of attire. A colored family by the name of Robinson, came very near making a corps of itself by a hearty partaking of apple butter on Saturday. The article was found to have some poisoning agent within it, which entirely destroyed the Robinsons hankering after it after this disclosure. Miss Ella Wiles, a young lady eighteen years of age, daughter of Samuel G. Wiles, deceased, was burned to death from the ignition of her dress by a kitchen stove last Saturday afternoon at her home. The funeral of the deceased took place from her mother’s residence at nine o’clock this morning.
