The German Lutheran Synod. A large delegation of the clergy and laity of the Middle District of the German LutherChurch is in attendance at the church building, corner of East and Georgia streets. At half-past two p. m. yesterday, the Synod was formally called to order by the President, Rev. H. C. Schwan, of Cleveland, Ohio. The Vice President, Rev. G. W. Stubnatacy, of Fort Wayne, and the Secretary, Rev. C. Winchmann, of Dearbon county, are both present. A call of the roll showed but five members of the Synod absent. A large number of Lay Delegates presented their credentials, and were received into membership. A number of new ministers, teachers and congregations made application for admittance into full fellowship. The greater portion of the session yesterday and this forenoon has been devoted to discussing the feasibility and practicability of forming a Synodical Conference was taken up and discussed, and judging from the tenor made there is but little doubt it will be agreed to. It is proposed to make this a Union in faith of five Synods—Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, Wisconsin, and that of the Nop wegians of the United States. The basis of its organization will be a belief in the Augsburg Confession, and all of the Book of Concord, and is expected to be a unification for external as well as spiritual benefit. The proceedings <4 tbp fQftvpntta are carried oh in German, 9 large number of citizens of that nationality being in attendance. The sessions will be continued until next Tuesday.

At a little after noon yestprday intelligence was receive^ ‘ tytiMiguwfoil* to the effect that Sidney Miller, an' old citizen of Indianapolis, residing at No. 102 Elm street, had been struck upon the head by his son, and was in a dying condition. It Is thought to be the work of an incendiary, and done in order to attract the attention of the citicens to get them out of town, giving the perpetrators a bettor chance to commit depredations in the city.
