He was somewhat intoxicated, and being a quasi prise fighter, got to bragging that he could whip any man in Indianapolis, etc. The result was a sort of tree fight, participated ia by Gaston, the bartenders Fairchild, and Jake Fitter, ia the midst of which Fairchild wantonly discharged a revolver through a partition in tha rear of the saloon. Fairchild was arretted, and this morning fined $34 35 by the Mayor, for assaulting Gaston and disturbing the peace. Fitter pleaded guilty of assaulting Fairchild, and paid*an assessment of $8 AS. It was simply a drunk* en row, that might have proved disastrous had not officers Sbi-w and Elliott appeared upon the scene to prwvoat further disturbance. Tbw mamwlwrn. Onljr An sVersgb hotise witnessed thb Ant production of this popular three act drama ia this city last evening by the Wyndbam Comedy Ootnany, which is greatly to be regretted, because it is really one of the finest dramatic presentation* made in Indi&nspofts for months, and therefore merits a far better patronage than was bestowed upon it last evening. The play opens upon a scene in an English park, wherein all the leading characters are Introduced, and some first-class hits at fashionable marriages successfully made. The second act is very spirited, as Ours (an English regiment) is off. for the Crimean war. Several Varieties of leaVes-taking are finely illustrated. The acting of all the characters io this act are absolutely faultless. The last act represents a camp scene before Sebastopol, which, in spite of grim-rlsaged war surroundint; it, is overfiowing with humor, pathos and sentiment all harmoniously mln- v gled. “Oara” is a fcapital play, from first to last, replete tilth funuy situations and sayings, laughable satires on the marriage customs of the day, and withal, a more than average amount of good common sense. There are but two places where the performance drags a little, one in the first act and another in the last. ^ V All the members of the company played in their usual unequaledwtyle, and showed themselves perfectly at home, both in the drawing room of an aristocratic mansion and in the tent before Sebastopol. This is, withont doubt, the finest legitimate comedy company that ever performed in this city, and he loses much who fails to see them. To-night, the comic protean opera of “Mephisto's Mission,” and the comic drama in two acts, “Rosine and her Two Husbands, will be presented. There should be a foil bouse. Benefit to-morrow evening to Mf. Charles Wyndbam. At 2:15 o’clock this atternoon neither the jury in the Ben Johnson case, which had been out for twenty-fonr hoars, nor that of the Vetter-Gagg case, had finished their consnlta tiona.
