REAL SERVICES NEWS FROM WALKERTON The seniors gathered at the Walkerton REAL Services site, in Walkerton, to a discussion held on last Monday about the party attended by several at the Webster Center, in Plymouth. The remainder of the day on Monday was spent visiting. Tuesday an article was read by Kay Hampe entitled, “Thanks Given” also “Man Shall Not Die” followed by the table prayer. On Thursday the supervisor, Eleanor Miller, was present. Friday is our usual sing-a-long with Verice Walz at the piano and Virginia Anhold leading the singing which everyone enjoys. Coming up on Nov. 18 we will be entertained by Violet Wolff and Maxine Worthington. So make your plans to join us by making your reservations. With all our love, Your Family BIRTH A son was born to Jennie Peterson and Gerald Donohue, on Oct. 24, at the LaPorte Hospital at 2:58 a.m. He has been named Austin Robert Donohue and he weighed in at seven pounds and eight ounces and measured 21 inches long. Maternal grandparents are Dan and Theresa Corwin, of Walkerton and maternal great grandparents are Harry and Jennie Peterson, of Walkerton and Nancy Corwin and the late William Corwin, Walkerton. Paternal grandparents are Mary and the late Earl Donohue, of Lockport, New York.

MARTHA WARNER Martha M. Warner, 63, of Jackson Road, South Bend, passed away on Nov. 7, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She was born on March 18, 1933, in North Liberty to Alva Grenert and Vera (Overholt) Grenert, who both preceded her in death. As Martha M. Grenert she married Earl M. Warner, Jr., on Oct. 22, 1955, in North Liberty, who survives. She was a homemaker. Also surviving are two daughters, Roberta J. Smith of Woodlands, Texas and Marsha L. Grim, of Maumelle, Ark.; three sons, Mark J., of Seattle, Wash., Timothy P., of Williamsburg, VA and Stephen S., of Alexandria, VA; seven grandchildren; four sisters, her twin, M. Mary Schlemmer, of North Liberty and Kate Doerr, Joyce Grenert and Sue LaGue, all of South Bend; a special cousin, Shirley McCray, of Haddon Heights, NJ and five brothers, William C., Jesse L. and John M., all of South Bend, George, of Mishawaka and Elmer, of North Liberty. A brother, Walter D., of Killeen, TX, preceded her in death in 1988. Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the First Brethren Church, South Bend, with Rev. Larry Baker, officiating. The Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, South Bend, was in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the First Brethren Church. Energy Assistance Applications 1 Being Taken . The Starke County Council on Aging will begin taking Energy Assistance applications for the Low Income Home Energy

Assistance Program Block Grant, a federal block grant funded through the Division of Family and Children. The program is called Energy Assistance Program (EAP), formerly known as Project Safe. Elderly and disabled persons who are heads of households and meet the income guidelines may begin applying on Nov. 18th. Those under age 60 that meet income guidelines may apply after Dec. 2nd. EAP will focus on income eligible households who are subject to energy costs or have electric/heating emergencies. Households must meet the following guidelines: With only one in the household and maximum gross annual income of $9,675; two in household with gross annual income of ' $12,950; three in household with annual income of $16,225; four in household with annual income of $19,500 and for each additional add $3,275. Exceptions to the above may include those households who have experienced unusually high medical bills which the individual has had to pay and no reimbursement is forthcoming or households who have experienced com-

pulsory home maintenance expenses necessary for the well-being of the individuals in the household. Households will receive an energy benefit if determined eligible. Households wishing to make application should bring proof of all income for the past 12 months, electric and heating bills, social security numbers, birthdates, and lease agreement (if a renter). A special form is also required for household members who have had no income during the past year. This form may be obtained at the Council on Aging office, 311 E. Culver Road, Knox. Applications will be taken at the Council on Aging office from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. On Nov. 26, 1996 only, applications will be taken at the North Judson Senior Center site from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Special arrangements will be made for households who cannot apply during normal working hours.
