Consider request from Calumet Const. Co. for payment toward the cost of temporary heat for UMS The School Board took under advisement a request from the representative of Calumet Construction Company for the Corporation to pay $44,195 for temporary weather protection and temporary heat expenses incurred during the construction of Urey Middle School. Representatives from Calumet explained the two month delay in starting the project prevented enclosing of the new addition prior to cold weather making it necessary to provide temporary heat and shelter to keep from shutting the project down over the cold winter months. The expenses for the temporary heat and shelter were not included in their contract with the school corporation. Working through the winter months allowed the construction to be completed in August and thus avoided the disruption of two school years with the construction work. Board members expressed appreciation for the quality work and the schedule in which the work was completed. 2. UMS Construction Project Report Kari 'Vilamaa, architect, reported to the School Board on progress being made to finish punch list items.
