NLE Students Work Hard For DARE Program North Liberty Elementary students provided plenty of elbow grease and smiles to community members on Sat., Oct. 19, when the fifth and sixth graders held a car wash. The cars were washed in front of the school to raise funds to have the nationally known DARE (Drug & Alcohol Resistance Education) program in their school. Students and parents also baked hundreds of items for a coinciding bake sale. NLES administration has hoped for DARE for years. It wasn’t until the students themselves grasped the reins that it was finally made possible. The students have raised $1,200 through various projects and donations. Local officer, Kelly Bussie, will attend DARE training this year and present the DARE program to all NLES fifth and sixth grade classes beginning in January.
