The Epsilon Chi chapter of Tri Kappa, Walkerton, is honored to introduce the following ten young ladies who are vieing for the 1996 Junior Miss title, this Saturday evening, October 12, at the John Glenn High School auditorium. This is the 25th year for the pageant locally and the program will begin at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $7.00 per person. Plan now on attending. Junior Miss candidate number one is Angela Marie Dietrich, best known as Angel. She is the daughter of John and Cindi Dietrich and Carol and Bob Mahoney, of Walkerton. Angel has two brothers and two sisters. She has brown hair and eyes and is five foot four inches tall. Angel is a senior at JGHS and her choice for college is IUSB where she hopes to gain a career as a medical assistant. Angel’s high school honors, clubs and activities include the Spanish club, H.0.P.E., band and in her sophomore and junior years was nominated as Homecoming candidate. Her hobbies, sports and talents include varsity basketball, varsity volleyball, treasurer and vice president of the youth group at church, playing the flute, piccolo, oboe, bassoon and percussion instruments. Angel’s favorite TV show is “Fresh Prince” and her favorite hdvel is Jonathon Livingston’s “Seagull.” Other favorites include recording star Celine Dion; personality of today: teachers; personality of past: Martin Luther King and sports star: Sheryl Swoopes. For her creative and performing arts presentation Angel will present “Little Girls” a song from the musical “Annie.” Miriam Janne Odegaard Skeide is Junior Miss candidate number two. She is a senior and foreign exchange student from Norway at Oregon-Davis High School. Her parents are Robert and Karin Skeide, of Norway and her host parents are Kenny and Penny Stafford, of Walkerton. She has two brothers. Miriam is five foot six inches tall and has brown hair and blue eyes. Although she does not have a college choice, her career ambition is to become a travel agency agent. Her high school honors, clubs and activities include performing drama in the local Ten-Sing choir and the YMCA/YWCA. Her hobbies, sports and talents are reading, writing letters, listening to music, playing the piano, gymnastics, drama, ballet, biking, baking, cooking and dancing. Miriam favorite TV show is “Friends” and her favorite novel is “Agnes Cecilia-en selsom historic” by Maria Gripe. She also enjoys recording star John Barry; personality of today: Claire Danes; personality of past: Lucille Ball and sports star Dominique Dawes. For her creative and performing arts presentation she will present a dance routine. Denise Lea Miller is the daughter of Roger and Carolyn Miller, of Grovertown. Denise is Junior Miss candidate number three and she has two brothers and one sister. You may find Denise at Oregon-Davis High School where she is a senior with blonde hair, hazel eyes and stands five foot five inches tall. Her career ambition is to become a high school counselor and she plans on attending Ancilla College. Her high school honors, clubs and activities include Who’s Who Among American High School Students, 4-H, Drama and Yearbook. Her hobbies, sports and talents are basketball, acting and playing any sport and working. Her favorites are “Friends”, aTV show; novel, “Queen” by Alex Haley and recording star, Reba Mclntire. Personality of today: Wyona Ryder and personality of past: Shirley Temple and sports star: Charles Barkley. For the creative and performing arts part of the program Denise will present a skit from Romeo and Juliet.

Jr. Miss Candidate number four is Regina Mae Sims, daughter of April and Greg Smeltzer, of Walkerton. She has three sisters. Regina is five foot four inches tall and has brown hair and eyes and is a senior at O-DHS. She plans to attend a four-year college with a career ambition in medicine. She is a member of the National Honor Society, has held a class office and is a member of the Student Council. Her other high school honors, clubs and activities include various awards in English, Science, History and Math; a Purdue Scholar award; honor roll; Science club, Spanish club, FHA, Spell Bowl, Academic team, honors reading seminar members and participant in the National Youth Leadership Forum on medicine. Her hobbies, sports and talents include basketball, track, reading, dancing and spending time with friends. Regina’s favorite TV show is “Party Os Five”, her favorite novel is “Candide” by Voltaire and other favorites of hers are recording star Faith Hill; personality of today: Sandra Bullock; of past: Lucille Ball and sports star, B. J. Armstrong. For her creative and performing arts Regina will present a dance routine. Gail Marie Ferency, daughter of Emery and Shirley Ferency, North Liberty, is Jr. Miss candidate number five. She has one sister. Gail is a senior at JGHS and has blonde hair, green eys and stands five foot four inches tall. Gail’s career ambition is to become a trigonometry/calculus teacher and plans to attend Purdue University. She is a member of the National Honor Society, marching band, concert band, pep band, spell bowl team, state champion spell bowl team, literary magazine staff, yearbook, newspaper, French club and SADD. Honors received are third place in the Falcon Follies, Academic Decathlon, third place (essay), State Decathlon, academic letter, academic silver medal, first and second place ratings at ISSMA district and state solo and ensemble and varsity lettered in track and field. Her hobbies, sports and talents include 4-H, rollerskating competitively, playing piano, clarinet and bass clarinet, performing magic, running, spending time with friends, reading, drawing and writing. Her favorite TV showv is “Caroline In The City,” her favorite novel is “The Captain’s Daughter” and her favorite recording star is Bryan White. Her favorite personality of today is David Copperfield, of the past: Elvis Presley and sports star is Tom Dolan. For her creative and performing arts Gail will present a piano solo “I Do It For You.” Candidate number six is Sara Beth Palkovich. She is the daughter of John and Janice Palkovich, of Walkerton. Sara has one sister. Sara is a senior at O-DHS and she is five foot seven inches tall with blonde hair and blue eyes. Her career ambition is to become either a flight attendant or marine biologist. Her college choice is to attend IUSB for two years and then go on to IU at Bloomington for two years. She is a member of the Girl Scouts and her high school clubs include the drama club, SADD, H.E.A.R.T., Poms, Sunshine, Spanish club, FHA, Science club, Spell Bowl manager and a teachers aide. Her hobbies, sports and talents include swimming, water skiing, jet skiing, tubing, bike riding, working out, dancing and snowmobiling. Sara’s favorite TV show is “Friends,” her favorite novel is “Huckleberry Finn”; recording star, Whitney Houston and personality of today: Oprah Winfrey; of the past: George Burns and sports star, Carrie Strugg. The creative and performing arts portion of the program Sara will present a dance routine.
