ding communities have their Trick Or Treat on Halloween. I have noticed that more and more of the Trick Or Treaters who come to my home are not children of the Walkerton area. If Trick Or Treat was held at

the same time as the surrounding communities, perhaps more Walkerton residents would be willing to pass out candy to our little goblins. One argument for not allowing Trick Or Treat on Halloween is that it gets dark before 7:00 p.m. Isn’t it odd that it only gets dark in Walkerton at 7:00? Or is it that the other communities are safer than Walkerton at 7:00 p.m.? When I was a child, we were allowed to Trick Or Treat on Halloween. The hours were from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. After dark!!! Has Walkerton really become that dangerous that our children cannot be allowed on the streets at 7:00 p.m.? Not from what I have seen. Having Trick Or Treat on Sunday increases the traffic in Walkerton and, therefore, increases the risk to our children. If Walkerton had Trick Or Treat on Halloween, the same time as the surrounding communities, traffic would be less and less traffic would be safer for our children. If your Walkerton Town Board would consider a change just once. Just to see what happens! Then our children could have their Trick Or Treat the same day as North Liberty and the other surrounding areas. Walkerton is a safe place. After looking at the signatures which were collected by Norma, I see two police officers and numerous business people. If these individuals as well as the countless parents who signed the petitions believe that Walkerton is safe enough for our children to Trick Or Treat until 7:00 p.m., then why doesn’t the Walkerton Town Board? I know that it is too late to change it this year. The Board voted Monday night (3 to 2) to hold Trick Or Treat on Sunday prior to Halloween between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. Sherry White School Officials Get Right Answers At Conference School board members and administrators frQm around the state, including representatives from the • John Glenn School Corporation, attended the Indiana School Boards Association/Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents Fall Conference, at the Indiana Convention Cehter, Indianapolis, on October 2 and 3. Many outstanding speakers were at the conference including Ralph Archbold, in the character of Benjamin Franklin, presenting “The Spirit of Cooperation.” His presentation revealed secrets from the Founding Fathers that allowed them to pull together the diverse 13 states into one great nation. Writer and humorist Grady Jim Robinson spoke on Thursday, Oct. 3. Through his combined talents he has been titled as one of American’s top motivational humorists. He has been a columnist for the St. Louis GlobeDemocrat and made appearances on radio and TV shows.
