Rebecca L. Michell, daughter of Steve and Sue Michell, of Walkerton and Jeremy L. Pugh, son of Susan (Sons) Kissinger, of Walkerton and Darlas Pugh, of New Carlisle were married on August 24, at 5 p.m., at the Walkerton Community Church with Rev. The groom’s party consisted of Clarence Sons, best man and Mike Michell, groomsman. A reception was held at the Community Building, in Walkerton, following the ceremony. Lodge Hall. Mr. Kaiser and Ruby Baughman were married on Nov. 2, 1946, in Mishawaka. Their children are Dennis and Pam Kaiser, of Walkerton; Randy and Sharon Klingerman, of South Bend and David and Ellen Kaiser, of Walkerton. They also have eight grandchildren. Mr. Kaiser is a member of the Tyner 1.0.0. F. Lodge and the U.A.W. He retired from Wells Aluminum in North Liberty and is presently engaged in grain farming. Mrs. Kaiser is a homemaker. announce the engagement of their daughter, Lisa to Matthew Price, son of Robert and Dianna “Jean” Price, of 2562 W. Ind. 2, LaPorte. The bride elect is a 1994 graduate of LaPorte High School and is a student at Purdue North Central and works at the LaPorte WalMart. The prospective groom is employed at Metal Building Maintenance Company, a division of Thermo Seal Roof Systems Inc., in Walkerton. The couple is planning an October 5, 1996 wedding. Patricia Christensen Awarded Fulbright Grant For Studies Patricia Anne Christensen, graduate of St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, has been awarded a Fulbright grant to complete Masters Degree studies in Milan, Italy, the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board and the United States Information Agency (USIA) announced. Ms. Christensen graduated Cum Laude in 1995 from Saint Mary’s College with a Bachelors of Fine Art degree. While at Saint Mary’s she was recognized for her academics and was awarded the Saint Luke’s award for outstanding textile art work. Following graduation she completed post-graduate work at the Art Institute of Chicago. While in Milan, she will complete graduate work at the Institute Marangoni. International Fashion Buying and Knit Wear Design will be her focus in Milan. Ms. Christensen is the daughter of Dr. Carl and Mary Ann Christensen, of Walkerton. Ms. Christensen is one of approximately 1,600 U.S. grantees who will travel abroad for the 1996-97 academic year under the Fulbright program. Established under Congressional legislation introduced by former Senator
J. William Fulbright of Arkansas, the program is designed “to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.” Begun in 1946, this year marks the program’s 50th anniversary. Scholarships are awarded through open competition, with final selections made by the Foreign Scholarship Board. Forty-one foreign governments share in the funding of these exchanges. Juliana (Birk) and Craig Reed, of South Bend, are the proud parents of a baby girl, born on Thursday, Sept. 12. She weighed in at seven pounds and 10 ounces and was named Paige Marie. Paige was greeted at home be her two and a half year old sister, Brooke. Sarah LaVigne and Wes Ream are the proud parents of their daughter, Elisha Cloey Ream, born on
Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 12:29 p.m. at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Elisha weighed in at eight pounds and 14 ounces and measured 21 Vi inches long. She is welcomed home by her big brother, Nick Ream, age eight. Her grandparents are Terry and Cindy LaVigne, Jim and Kathy Wyland, all of Walkerton and great-grand-parents are Iva Kring, Hobert and Dene Hensley, all of Walkerton; May Wiles, of Teegarden and Viola Wyland, of Mulberry, Kansas. TO FLUSH HYDRANTS IN NORTH LIBERTY The Town of North Liberty wishes to inform its water customers that the water department will be flushing fire hydrants from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Tuesday, October 1 through Friday, Oct. 4. Water customers may notice rusty or dirty looking water during this time, however, this condition will soon dissipate. Customers should refrain from doing laundry during this time as clothes may become stained. The water dept, appreciates resident’s patience, cooperation and understanding during this time and we apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
