Sports News The John Glenn varsity volleyball team opened its first week of the ’96 season by going 2-3. The Falcons started off the season with an impressive 15-5, 16-14 Northern State Conference win over a tough Triton squad. Glenn jumped out to
huge leads in both games and were able to hold on to beat the Trojans. After outlasting Southwood (14-16, 15-9, 15-10) in the opener of the North Miami tournament, the Falcons struggled in consecutive losses to Mississenwa (12-15, 15-13, 15-7), North Miami (15-10, 15-5) and Western (15-13, 15-8) and Western (15-13, 15-8). For the day Lindsay O’Connor had 12 kills, 12 aces and 24 assists; Beth Honaker had 20 kills and 11 block kills; Jennifer Traub and Holly Legge added nine kills apiece while Suzanne Drews and Heidi Wasteney combined for 46 digs. The JG junior varsity volleyball team lost its season opener against Triton last Thursday night in three games. Scores were 12-15, 15-10 and 4-15.

Leading the way in serving for Glenn was Lynna Potts with 13 for 13 and one ace. Becca Strahm contributed five aces while Jessica Traub had three kills and Tammy Wasteney had three block kills against the Trojans. Erica Smith led in passing, going 12 for 13.
