Falcons Lose To Jimtown Friday, 46-3 The Jimmies, ranked third in the state, rolled over the John Glenn Falcons, on Friday night, 46-3. The only score for Glenn was a 22-yard field goal in the second quarter by Alex Strang. The Jimmies were led by Ryan Smith who mounted up three TD’s, 63 yards rushing on 15 carries. This was Jimtown’s coach, Bill Sharpe, 150th win. Also for Jimtown, Billy Sharp had 64 yards which included a one-yard run for a touchdown. SCORE BY QUARTERS Glenn 0 3 0 0 3 Jimtown 20 19 7 0 46 The Falcons will face the Knox Redskins on Friday night on the John Glenn field, with kick-off set for 7:30 p.m. FIELD DAY SET FOR SEPT. 14th The Soil and Watet Conservation Districts from Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall and St. Joseph Counties will be sponsoring a Four County Forestry Field Day, on Sat., Sept. 14, at the public access site at Mill Pond. The public access site at Mill Pond is located southwest of Plymouth on Rose Road between W. 12th Road and W. 13th Road. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Topics for the day include Woodland Management for Mill Pond/Prairie Planting, the Economics of Woodlands, Marketing, Classifying a Woodland/Classifying a Wildlife Habitat, Pond Management particularly Mill Pond management and a guided tour through the woods on the hiking trail. < X 1 ( The sixth annual Memory Walk to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association Northern Indiana Chapter will be held on Sunday, Sept. 15, in Howard Park, South Bend. The event traditionally serves as the largest fund-raising event for the organization each year. This year’s goal for the 3-or 6-mile pledge event are 650 walkers raising $40,000. Funds from the Memory Walk help in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease and to provide support and education services to people afflicted with the disease, their caregivers and family members in the Michiana area. The Memory Walk is best described as a “fest-event” with entertainment venues, a hearty post-walk picnic and prizes. Entertainers including local bands,
Community Action Team To Meet At O-D
The Oregon-Davis Jr./Sr. High School Community Action Team (CAT) will meet on Wed., Sept. 4, for the first time this school year. The CAT began at the school in the fall of 1993 as recommended from the PBA evaluation. Purpose of CAT is to develop effective communication between parents and the school. The Community Action Team will meet the first Wednesday of each month

violinists, folk singers, clowns, magicians, caricaturists, jugglers, dancers, storytellers, face painters, banjos and bagpipers are featured along the walk. The course will accomodate speed walkers, runners and skaters. The walk is a familyoriented event for all ages. The course is stroller and handicapped accessible. Families and victims of Alzheimer’s disease are encouraged to attend and walk in memory or honor of a loved one. Cumulative off-site exercise activity ~ (swimming, biking, running, etc.) at your own pace and time is also away to participate in the Memory Walk. Registration for the walk will take place in Howard Park at 11:30 a.m. The rally begins at 12:30 p.m., with the course and entertainment venues opening at 1 p.m. The picnic will then start at 2 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to top individual walkers and teams. Women's Show Set For Sept. 6 - 8 More than 150 exhibits featuring products and services designed to make a woman’s life healthier, happier and easier will be part of the WOMEN’S SHOW to be held on Sept. 6 through the 8, at the Century Center, in South Bend. The show is sponsored by WSBT, Martin’s Supermarkets and Memorial Hospital. Celebrities, including Naomi Judd, informative seminars, beauty demos, health screenings, good pavilion, fitness demos and more will be featured.
