I VOICE OF THE PEOPLE
HAVING FUN? We have reached the middle of summer. Are we having fun? Mosquitoes, flies, muggy weather, lawnmowing, etc. I really don’t know why we are always looking for This season. We are trying to get done in three months, the jobs that are needed the rest of the year. I go out to the garden and see all

the vegetables coming on that aren’t meant to ripen at the same time. The blackberries have even outdid themselves this year. Wanda, are you ready to make pies? Have you tried the Kankakee Valley Auction’s Feed Lot Restaurant on Mondays? Their homemade tenderloin sandwiches are excellent. They are open all day on Mondays for meals. You can have a fun time at the flea market and auction too. Most of the flea market is open from noon. A couple of weeks ago the Chamber had their golf outing at Swan Lake. I must say that Carl and Scottie, from Rav and Kenny’s, are excellent cooks, they had an outstanding menu. And yes, my steak was perfect! We need to remember that Ray and Kenny’s have a very good catering service. Do you think that Walkerton looks a little drab? When I come into town, I am a little upset when I see the colorless buildings and bareness. What can we do to make Walkerton more colorful?

Our flower boxes are not filled like they should be. Can we keep our trees lit all the night hours? Whatever happened to our benches? Walkerton looks sad and we need suggestions on how to make her happy looking again. Do we need banners and flags? Decorated windows? Maybe if we make Walkerton proud looking again, businesses would fill our empty storefronts. Got ideas call the Chamber of Commerce and let us know your thoughts. Have your organizations decided on booths for the Great Pumpkin Festival? Give Mary Newland or Julie Morton a call. Well I guess that I need to pick up my fellers and go play cards.
