VOICE OF THE PEOPLE
Dear Community Leaders, Business Owners, Organizations, Volunteers, Neighbors and Friends, We are very excited about having a local Police Officer trained in the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program. We believe it will be a great benefit to our children and our community. We have a few commitments for funding. Tuition will be paid for by the John Glenn School Corporation A.T.O.D. (Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs) committee. Material costs will be picked up by our North Liberty chapter of Tri Kappa and officer salary by our town. We are actively seeking grants, corporate sponsors and additional funding. Kelly Bussie will attend the D.A.R.E. training program in October. He is a full-time, evening shift police officer in North Liberty. He will put in extra hours or trade shifts to be able to go to the North Liberty Elementary School to implement the D.A.R.E. program with our children. We are planning a community meeting, on Tuesday, August 6, at 7:00 p.m., at the North Liberty Community Building. We invite all of you to attend, to send a representative, or bring a friend to become involved. We’d like to address community issues concerning this program and hear your ideas to make North Liberty a better place to live. We will also be asking for volunteers to form a committee composed of individuals from all avenues of our community. Please join us in this project, for our children and our community.
