JOSEPH F. KOTAL Joseph F. Kotal, 78, of 30837 State Road 4, North Liberty, passed away at 6:15 a.m. on July 7, at his home. He was born on April 5, 1918, in South Bend. On March 4, 1983 he married Gloria D. Valovich, in Plymouth, who survives. He was a retired farmer and also was employed at the North Liberty Elevator. Also surviving are four step daughters, Fran Touhey and Rachel Williams, both of South Bend; Laurie Touhey and Teresa Eckert, both of New Carlisle; two step sons, Thomas C. Touhey, Jr., of North Liberty and Joseph T. Touhey, of Cassopolis, MI; four sisters, Margaret Vandekeere and Helen Trippel, both of Mishawaka, Genevieve Semak, of South Bend and Hildegard Firestone, of North Liberty; a half brother, Frank Kotal, of North Liberty; a half sister, Mary Dooms, of South Bend; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry who passed away in 1995 and a step daughter, Christina Boss who passed away in 1991. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Walkerton with burial in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. GEORGE KRIECHBAUM George E. Kriechbaum, 89, of 8016 Tonti Lane, Walkerton, passed away at 6:15 a.m., on Tuesday, July 9, in St. Joseph Hospital, Marshall County, Plymouth, following a short illness. He was born on July 19, 1906, in Chicago, IL. On April 24, 1937 he married Florence Bartoli, in Chicago, IL who preceded him in death on March 27, 1985. Surviving is a daughter, Jeanne Post, of Skokie, IL; a grandson, Gino Pirani, of Koontz Lake; two granddaughters, Laura and Lynne and a great-grand-daughter, Kristy. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the Rannells Fun&ral Home Koontz Lake Chapel with burial to follow in the Grovertown Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-9 p.m. on Thursday and after 9 a.m. on Friday until the time of the service. He was a member of the Walkerton American Legion.

NOTICE TO BIDDERS Notice is hereby given that the Board of School Trustees of John Glenn School Corporation, Walkerton, Indiana will receive sealed bids for the purchase of a Media Distribution System at Urey Middle School, Walkerton, Indiana. Sealed bids will be received by John Glenn School Corporation, Walkerton, Indiana, on August 6, 1996, at 11:00 a.m., EST, at the office at 506 Roosevelt Road, Walkerton, Indiana 46574. Bids received after that time will be returned unopened to the bidder. All bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope with a statement on the outside of the envelope reading “Sealed Bid: Media Distribution System - Do not open until August 6, 1996.” Each bidder shall furnish with his bid the following: 1. Bid shall be attached with Bid Proposal Form 95 as prescribed by the State Board of Accounts of Indiana. No equipment shall be listed on the Form 95. (Place bid prices on specifications.) NonCollusion affidavit must be executed. 2. Each out-of-state bidder must submit with the bid a Certififed Check payable to John Glenn School Corporation as a Bid and Suppy Deposit in the amount of 10% of the bid. In-state bidders may submit a Certified Check in the amount of 5% of the bid or an acceptable Bid and Supply Bond in the amount of 5% of the bid. 3. Should a successful bidder withdraw his bid or fail to execute a satisfactory contract, the owner may declare the bid deposit forfeited as liquidated damages, not a penalty. 4. Consideration and preference given to vendor who can provide total system solution including hardware, software, maintenance, training, and technical support. 5. Any bidder may withdraw his bid at any time prior to the scheduled time for receipt and opening of bids.
