Peer Helpers Attend Institute Recently From O-D ■ ' f Il ft MJ J )■ 1 11 a iji 1 I LAM I Oregon-Davis High School representatives from the Peer Helpers Class attended training at Vincennes University sponsored by Indiana Teen Institute, from June 16 to the 21st. ITI was formed to channel young people who make a positive impact on others just by being what they are: strong, sober and drug-free. ITI graduates become part of a state-wide network of young people who share relevant information on tobacco, alcohol and other drug use prevention. These students learn skills to implement effective drug prevention programs, relate with others, get their schools and communities involved, have fun without substances and exert positive peer pressure for drug-free lifestyles. These representatives were financed by those who attended and supported the spring fish fry at the school and by student donations from the Wear A Hat For

This organization shall support, encourage and advance the athletic program and related activities of JGHS athletics and thereby cultivate clean, wholesome school spirit, promote good sportsmanship and develop high ideals of character. To promote and encourage better attendance to all sports activities by the students, parents, community and faculty of the John Glenn School Corporation. To promote and encourage more young men and women to get involved in athletics, either as an active participant or as a volunteer. To raise funds to assist and promote all athletic programs at JGHS. Membership is open to any person interested in the purpose for which this organization is formed shall be eligible for membership upon payment of the annual dues which will be determined by the current board. Outright gifts will be readily accepted. The advisory board met on June 4th to elected new officers for the 1996-97 year as follows: Rick Honaker,

president; Mike Hulse, vice president; Josie Snell, secretary; Bonnie Salyer, treasurer and Gerrie Ruby, assistant treasurer. The board consists of one adult representative from each varsity sport at JGHS. The representatives include the officers and Linda O’Connor, Sue Legge, i Peggy McKee, Joyce Liggett, Connie Medich, Kathy Guseilla, Barb I Strahm, Jay Potts, Wally Roush, Nilas Miller and Mike Clark. Membership dues are $2.00 for individuals and $3.00 for couples. The Club’s Falcon Sponsors Levels is for recognition to individuals who would care to make a donation and the levels include White Falcon sponsor at $25 donation; Black Falcon sponsor at SSO donation and the Red Falcon sponsor at SIOO donation. Fall, winter and spring athletic program books will be published during the year and will be available at each home event. All 16 sports will be honored in the fall, winter and spring books as that particular sport’s season is in session. Ads for the books are for sale for any area business, individual, club and orgranization who would like to be recognized with the books at a cost of $25 for 1/8 page; $45 for !4 page; SBO for Vi page and $l5O for a full page. If anyone pays for ads in both fall and winter program books they will received their ad published free in the spring book.
