ATTENDS OPEN HOUSE PARTY Louise Mann, of Walkerton, attended the open house party, on Saturday, for her grandson, lan Gerald Storey, Youngstown, Ohio. lan, son of Nancy Sanders, graduated from Liberty High School, in Youngstown, Ohio. Also attending were Carolyn Trost and son, Ryan, of LaPorte; Kelli and Courtenay Barnes and Hanna, of Chicago; Adam and Sheryl Mann and daughter, Katie, of Bremen; Richard and Mary Kunkle and son, Micalh, of Plymouth and Ed and Lorie and daughters, of Fort Wayne. lan received a special gift from Perry Mann, Indiana University, Bloomington, a signed autography picture from Bobby Knight. Good weather, fellowship and food were enjoyed by all. Spending a week here in Walkerton are Ms. Kelsey and Taylor McNeal, of Indianapolis. They are the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Allen (Janet) McNeal and the granddaughters of Mr. and Mrs. Jim New and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ryan.

LOCAL RESIDENT TOURS EUROPE WITH STATE BAND/CHOIR Laura Bostwick, Walkerton, daughter of Alice Bostwick, is touring Europe this month as a member of the new Indiana’s Ambassadors of Music symphonic band and concert choir. The band and choir are coordinated by Ball State University’s School of Music in conjunction with Voyageurs International. The groups feature 130 top high school and college student musicians from throughout Indiana. Indiana’s Ambassadors of Music were chosen from more than 1,500 students nominated by hand and choir directors statewide. The groups have been officially recognized as ambassadors by Gov. Evan Bayh and the Indiana legislature. The students are performing patriotic, spiritual, jazz and show tunes in England, France, Switzerland, Austria and Germany. Concert venues include the Westminster Cathedral and Victoria Embankment Gardens in Lon-
don and Luxembourg Gardens in Paris. TOP SCHOLAR ATHLETE RECIPIENTS FROM JGHS Two top students from John Glenn High School were recently awarded the U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar Athlete Award. This prestigious award is presented annually by the U.S. Army Reserve to high school students who have shown outstanding ability in both academics - and athletics. These awards have been presented since 1981 to more than 12,000 high schools nationwide. Heather Marie Parks and David J. CARD CLUB NEWS The senior card club news for the past week on Tuesday and Thursday is as follows: On Tuesday bid euchre was played with the winners being Thelma Dill, Norma Brems and Ruth Ullery. Pinochle was played on Thursday with the top winner being Norma Brems at 424; Cheryl Rizek at 414; Morris Searfoss at 365 and Liz Moreau at 345.
